The Namibian Police have reported the deaths of 10 people over the weekend, with one person alleged to have been murdered and a Dutch citizen dying after a road accident in the Erongo region.
A murder charge is being investigated after the 19-year-old Ernesto Lucas Ngongo Ndara succumbed to injuries sustained when he was stabbed in the back in the Okahandja Park area of Windhoek on Saturday.
The incident occurred between 07h00 and 08h00.
The police reported on Sunday that Ndara was rushed to a hospital by family members, but later died.
The police also reported that a Dutch citizen, Lisette Monique De Bruijn (68), died after a vehicle in which she was a passenger overturned on the C14 road in the Kuiseb River Canyon at about 11h20 on Saturday. The accident happened about 156 kilometres from Walvis Bay.
On Friday, a 63-year-old man, Tjipazombua Herikutja, died at about 19h00 at Otjihams, a village on the main road between Opuwo and Omakange in the Kunene region, after he had been hit and run over by an unknown vehicle. A second vehicle also hit Herikutja, police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi reported on Sunday.
In Windhoek, the body of Hanhele Lineekela Wedeinge (26) was discovered at around 06h00 on Saturday in the Otjomuise Extension 9 area. It is suspected that Wedeinge died through suicide.
“No foul play was suspected,” Shikwambi said.
The police also reported that the body of Aino Amuama (74) was discovered at her home in the Okandjengendi area of Oshakati by family members on Friday.
She had reportedly been unwell for a long time, and no foul play is suspected.
In another suspected suicide, the body of a 51-year-old man, Thadeus Heita, was found at about 07h00 on Friday at Kuvukiland at Tsumeb.
“A suicide note was left behind, and no foul play was suspected,” Shikwambi reported.
An 84-year-old pensioner, Ruth Wickets, was declared dead by City of Windhoek emergency personnel in Klein Windhoek on Friday morning.
She had undergone multiple medical operations, and no foul play was suspected.
At Lüderitz, the body of Andre Bezuidenhoudt (42) was found in his room on Friday morning.
“He was last seen on 11 September 2025 at his workplace. No foul play was suspected, and no suicide note was left behind,” Shikwambi reported.
The police also reported the death of a three-year-old child, Helena Jackson, who died on arrival at a health centre at Okatana in the Oshana region on Saturday afternoon.
