Telenor buys GSM mobile phone license in Pakistan for US$291 million

OSLO, – Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor said yesterday it had won the auction in Islamabad for one of two new nationwide GSM licenses in Pakistan for mobile operation.

Telenor’s winning bid of US$291 million secured a 15-year license, which will be renewable on application, it said.
