THE teenager arrested last Wednesday for the murder and rape of 57-year-old Sarah Jagger made his second appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’;s Court on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old boy, whose name cannot be revealed as he is a minor, appeared before magistrate Andre Matulich on counts of rape and murder.
His case was postponed to 23 October for his legal aid application to be finalised.
Officers came across Jagger’;s severed foot when they responded to a call for help to put out a fire at a homestead at Farm |Aoxas, some five kilometres south of Bahnhof.
They followed footprints from the burned homestead, and later found her body nearby.
They then followed footprints, which led them to the accused. Public prosecutor Victor Mutumbulwa said the possibility of charges of arson and violating a dead body could be added to the two counts the boy faces.
The accused was denied bail due to the possibility of interference in police investigations, and because it is not in the public interest to grant him bail now.
