A delegation from the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) arrived in Windhoek on Tuesday to visit the Namibian Defence Force’s training facilities.
The visit is aimed at strengthening military cooperation and advancing academic collaboration, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs has said in a statement.
The Tanzanian delegation is headed by colonel Hamis Lussuna and includes colonel Asmahan, the Tanzanian defence attaché to Namibia, major Jella Begga, and major Biswaro Malima.
The delegation’s tour started at the Namibian Defence Force School of Military Science at the University of Namibia.
Over the course of the visit, the Tanzanian team will receive detailed presentations on the training programmes and courses offered at the School of Military Science, the Namibia Command and Staff College, and the NDF Training Establishment.
The delegation will tour the facilities to gain a thorough understanding of Namibia’s methodologies in military education and officer development.
“We are particularly interested in engaging with the University of Namibia, as well as with your esteemed military training and academic institutions, to explore modalities of admission, cooperation, and structured academic pathways.
“We view Namibia as a strategic and natural partner in this regard,” Lussuna says.
He says Namibia’s commitment to quality defence education and structured officer development aligns with the TPDF’s vision of preparing the next generation of military leaders.
“These leaders will be equipped with both the strategic insight and academic foundation to respond to contemporary and future security challenges,” he says.
The TPDF’s visit will end on 24 April.
