President Hage Geingob has extended birthday wishes to the South West Africa People’s Organisation (Swapo), which turns 63 years on Wednesday.
In his social media post, Geingob said the ruling party has been hard at work to unite and ensure the economic development of the country.
“Today, 63 years ago, Swapo, a glorious movement was formed with the mission of liberating Namibians from apartheid oppression,” Geingob said.
He added that the official party has succeeded in that historic mission.
Geingob said Swapo will continue working to complete the mission of improving the socio-economic well-being of all.
“On this historic day, I wish the rank and file of our victorious movement a happy 63rd anniversary,” he said.
The party was founded on 19 April 1960.
