Swapo company refutes allegations against Shaningwa

Sophia Shaningwa

GUINAS Investments (Pty) Ltd’s board has denied accusations that Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa withdrew N$2,5 million from its account.

This comes after a lengthy message was recently circulated on social media alleging that Shaningwa withdrew this amount from the Swapo company to fund the just-ended Swapo regional rallies.

The message also alleged that Shaningwa directed N$500 000 to the board’s deputy chairperson, Josef Andreas, for campaign use.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the board clarified that neither accusation has merit.

“The board hereby makes it categorically clear that the allegations are baseless and devoid of truth. Furthermore, be informed that there was no withdrawal of funds from any Guinas Investments (Ply) Ltd accounts by the secretary general, Cde Sophia Shaningwa and Cde Josef Andreas, as neither are signatories to any of the Guinas Investments (Pty) Ltd accounts,” the board said.

It called for an end to misinformation, adding that Swapo members’ resources are secure and well-managed within Guinas Investments.
