THE Suzuki Swift brings a fresh breeze onto Namibian roads and with it, lots of features such as driving comfort, luxury, style and fuel economy.
Top Revs had the pleasure of spending a day driving around in town and on the open roads with the new Swift.
The engine is the heart of the vehicle, and in this case we’re talking about the GLX model! The fourth generation comes with a three-cylinder front wheel drive petrol engine delivering 60kW.
But do not let this power output mislead you.
This car has all the bells and whistles that will make you think again when someone tells you about the 1.2L three-cylinder engine delivering 60kW through either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT auto gearbox.
The Swift might look small, but the technology, specifications and comfort packed into this car are beyond comprehension.
This is the kind of stuff you expect in a much bigger car with a much bigger engine.
The engine is designed to deliver optimum power with maximum fuel efficiency, Suzuki sales executive Huppee Zauana says.
The Swift is equipped with an air conditioner, electric windows and mirrors, keyless entry and stop-start, and speed cruise, giving you around 4.4 to 4.7L/100km, or almost 22km per litre.
To put it into perspective, the vehicle can reach a distance of around 800 kilometres with a single tank.
The interior gives the Swift its very own distinctive touch, with a high-quality reverse camera (with safety indicator lines), air conditioner, power steering, keyless entry and central locking and high end material.
The nine-inch infotainment system houses all the “nice to have features” like fuel usage, radio, an analogue clock, among others.
Another unexpected feature is the adjustable multi-functional steering wheel housing the volume and speed control functions.
“To add to the safety, a concern raised from the previous models, the Swift has six airbags for both driver and passengers,” Zauana says.
Colour coded side mirrors can be operated from the driver’s side, and if the car is parked, they automatically fold away.
The door handles are colour coded as well, adding extra flair to the small Swift.
The front of the car looks quite impressive with its day running lights and fog lights.
The rear 3D like cluster also looks impressive.

Apart from the convenient storage space, cup and bottle holder spaces, the car offers a sizable boot space of 540 litres.
The Swift comes in five different models and suits anyone’s needs and pocket.
And as expected, when buying a Swift, you are backed by Suzuki’s guarantee and service plans.
