Students graded in Goju Ryu

THE annual Black Belt Grading of Goju Ryu Karate was held recently in Windhoek.

Five students tested for Shodan (first Dan Black Belt) and one tested for Nidan (second Dan Black Belt ) in front of a panel headed by Sensei Bakkies Laubscher, 8th Dan Black Belt and Chief Instructor of the IOGKF for Africa. Sensei Laubscher expressed his satisfaction with the standard of the Namibian Black Belts, saying they compared well with any grading that he has performed around the world.The students had to attend an eight-hour Gasshuku training camp before the grading.They had to pass a two-hour physical test and also had to pass a written examination to test their knowledge about the history and technical aspects of Goju Ryu Karate.The ones who were graded as Shodan are Tegan Sham, Sven Hart, Fritz Venzke, Onno Amutenya and Roché Louw.Juergen van Wyk was graded as a Nidan.Visit http://www.goju-ryu-karate-namibia.com/ for more information.Sensei Laubscher expressed his satisfaction with the standard of the Namibian Black Belts, saying they compared well with any grading that he has performed around the world.
