This year’s ‘Standard Bank 09 Music Festival’ has been postponed to next year.
Festival founder Martin Morocky, better known as King Tee Dee, announced the postponement of the annual event on Friday.
“We regret to inform you that we will be cancelling this year’s event,” he said.
The festival has previously been staged during September, at the University of Namibia Stadium in Windhoek.
It began in 2018 as the ’09 Music Festival’, before being renamed the ‘Standard Bank 09 Music Festival’.
The event aims to bring together music lovers, artists, sport fans and community members for a celebration of music and culture.
Morocky said the festival has grown to become a beloved annual event in Namibia, known for its diverse line-up of local and international artists, vibrant atmosphere and dedication to fostering community spirit.
The festival features both well-known artists and emerging talent, and provides a platform for a wide range of musical expression.
Morocky said they decided to cancel this year’s event in order to plan a bigger and better event next year.
“Although the festival will not be held this year, we are already planning the next edition in 2025 and hope to bring you an even more spectacular event. We apologise to our attendees, but please know that the 2025 event will be bigger and better than anything you have seen or attended before,” he said.
Morocky expressed gratitude to the festival’s main sponsors for their continued support.
“Your dedication and generosity have had a long-term impact and we are extremely grateful. The festival would not be possible without the generous assistance of our sponsors. Your sponsorship has enabled us to highlight local talent, improve festival experiences, help local vendors and promote inclusivity and accessibility,” he added.
