SPYL contradicts Geingob

Hage Geingob and Jerry Ekandjo

The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) said party parliamentarian Jerry Ekandjo represents Swapo when he tabled an anti-gay bills in the National Assembly about two weeks ago.

The youth league jumped to Ekandjo’s defence in a social media post on Friday morning.

The post appears to be a response to party president Hage Geingob’s remarks on Thursday.

Geingob was quoted in the media as saying that Ekandjo was not authorised by Swapo when he tabled the bills.

The SPYL said Ekandjo’s bills received an overwhelming majority from members of parliament serving on the party’s ticket.

“We have assigned Kawana to prepare the law to make the amendments, while we are on that, so-and-so bills come in,” Geingob was quoted as saying.
