Spar management in South Africa has removed Namibian-produced vanilla-flavoured Top Score porridge from their shelves after the deaths of three children who allegedly consumed the product.
In an internal communiqué dated 28 September, Spar stated that they are awaiting forensic results from laboratory tests while all stock of the product at distribution centres has been identified and suspended from further distribution.
“We thank you for your support as we work together to prioritise the health and well-being of our customers. We will provide an update as soon as the test results are available and advise if any further action is necessary,” Spar says.
