JOHANNESBURG – South African car manufacturers sold a record number of vehicles in 2005, with overall sales leaping by 25,7 per cent versus the previous year, when they grew by 22 per cent, an industry body said yesterday.
Vehicle production is the second-biggest sector in South Africa’s manufacturing sector, which accounts for more than 16 per cent of its economy, the biggest on the continent.
