‘Some Good White People’

KINDLY allow me space in your loved newspaper to express my view concerning some good white people The use of the term “white” is not intended but you will understand after you have finished reading this letter.

I read with delight the opinion piece written by two white patriots of this country. (‘There is a future in Namibia despite Der Spiegel’s analysis’ – by Manfred Goldbeck and Sven-Eric Kanzler, The Namibian 30 July 2004.) It was a moral eye-opener to the minority, old, racist and conservative white farm owners who are still yearning for the good old days when whites could illegally own the entire country (plus cheap labour and easy access to bank loans), without being challenged in a court of law. Those days are forever gone! If those old white farmers really love this country and care about the future of their children, then I advise them to use that opinion piece as a guideline for the future.I wish we had many more of the likes of Sven-Eric and Manfred. The western media portrays African people as savages and their leaders as despots (which is not true) with the intention to cause political and economic destabilisation to the people and countries concerned.Too many of Africa’s problems (eg wars, poverty etc) are designed and instigated by the western media so as to enable business people in the west to make money out of our suffering. That is western barbarism at its best which the two white compatriots tried to highlight in their opinion piece.Given these realities one is tempted to ask: Who exactly created the problems in Zimbabwe? Your answers are as good as mine.To the two white compatriots who proved that they really belong to the land of the brave, I have this to say in conclusion: It is the responsibility of the youth to shape their own future.Keep on inspiring others as you did with your opinion piece so as to avoid problems erupting here similar to those in Zimbabwe.Keep it up! Land redistribution will happen for sure.Rukee Kotjipati Katutura(‘There is a future in Namibia despite Der Spiegel’s analysis’ – by Manfred Goldbeck and Sven-Eric Kanzler, The Namibian 30 July 2004.)
