SMSes of Thursday 24 September 2009

* IT is of vital importance that we watch what we say, especially if we are leaders and heads of this nation. In Namibia we are believed to be one nation now, so please let’s set good examples in order to keep our nation as united as we wish. It’s up to us Namibians to built a strong economy and country. Let’s not destroy our nation like that. Black and white, we are one nation that can prosper.

Food For Thought* WHERE will one get working experience if one has never been employed? I don’t think youth unemployment will ever end!Politics* I’M a black man and have the following for Tate Sam Nujoma: If the whites decide to make war on us they will wipe us out like flies. But instead of preparing war speeches the very same whites he wants to kill are thinking economically on how to feed the starving Namibian nation that was plunged into extreme poverty by his corrupt government. * IS the Founding President really the Father of the Nation? I doubt that. With so much hate speech and rhetoric about whites and imperialists I do not believe that he deserves the title Father of the Nation but rather Father of Swapo because it is only some (not all) Swapo members that support such hate speech and instigate racial hatred and disunity. Is Mr Nujoma really a role model the Namibian nation and our youth, especially the born-frees, can look up to? Is that the kind of example our youth should follow? Namibians wake up before it is too late.* I SALUTE the Founding Father for telling the white people the truth. He is the only man who can tell them the truth. As it is they have to respect black people who are original Namibians and real Africans. Viva Tatekulu. Viva Founding Father.- Baloyi* I’M a Swapo member, but I’m really perturbed by the tone and language being used by Mr Sam Nujoma, it’s below par.- TuliNoko* MR Nujoma has failed to establish schools, hospitals, employment, security and social welfare in Ongwediva which is why he has to use the race issue to gain votes. Run your government properly and the votes will follow automatically. I think even the masses in Ongwediva can figure that out. * IT’S very interesting how Mr Sam Nujoma is campaigning by putting fear in the masses that the ‘imperialists’ are coming back to take our land. The very same (Swapo) people are grabbing the MCA from ‘imperialists’ with both hands.- M* I JUST don’t understand why the Founding President is thinking that the whites should be hammered. Are they not men of god? The Bible said he made a man in his image but did not say black or white. Some say cats and dogs have forgiven each other, and what is wrong with us? How do you expect to be forgiven if not you? So white people mean a lot to black people, then let the love be among all. Thanks. * GO for it Mr Nujoma! Please do so again. With a friend like you, who needs enemies like Mr Hamutenya? You are single-handedly showing up Swapo for everything the opposing parties blame it for. The outraged SMSes from your young ‘grandchildren’ are sending you a powerful invite to rest now. For once, listen and stop shooting your own party in the foot. – EM* CAN the GRN return the US$304 million MCA grant please. Why is Sam Nujoma always embarrassing the Government of President Pohamba? During his presidency he never used such very undiplomatic language. Since President Pohamba can’t say a word, we citizens must now defend his GRN.* THANK you, Mr Sam Nujoma, for having aided me in making a difficult decision: never ever will I cast a vote in favour of Swapo.Bouquets And Brickbats* I WANT to thank The Namibian for publishing the information on where and how my two daughters can register for the election. Thanks for respecting our democratic rights more than our Cabinet. * THE Namibian Editor and your team, I salute you for providing a platform where citizens of this country can express themselves through SMSes. However I have a question, is there any action taken to address our concerns, e.g. corruption cases, salary increments? This is stressful.- We are working on identifying individuals and bodies to which readers can forward different types of queries. We will inform you as soon as we have this info. – NewsdeskElection Fever* IF the ECN can tender for T-shirts as alleged in one SMS, why can they not tender for ballot papers to an outside company? Elections, as long as the ballot papers are still printed by one of contesting political parties’ company, could be seen simply as a conflict of interest.* ECN, please we are hungry in the field. For eight days now we are without food, even transport. You dropped us far and deep in the field. We are struggling, how do you expect us to deliver the national task you gave us! Serious do something by Thursday at least.
In And From The Regions* KAMBUAKANEKURU Square (opposite the old graveyard) streetlights in Luderitz have been on for almost three years, even before houses were built. But up to now nobody lives there. Can the CEO of Lüderitz Town Council tell us who pays that electricity bill? * COUNCILLOR of Otamanzi constituency Comrade Kuugongelwa, we in Okalondo village want electricity, we are tired of empty promises. * GRADE 10 learners of Omega Combined School are suffering. They have to use candles to study because the Ministry of Works in Rundu is not working. Do something about the generator please.* I’M a proud Namibian citizen who usually goes to cast my vote with the reason of electing a competent leader who will offer quality service. My concern please the honourable councillor of Ndiyon constituency in Kavango region we want a proper road in Livayi community. Please think about us we are suffering a lot. All we are asking for is a gravel road. Health Matters* THE smoke of a cigarette is just a fraction of the problem. If Dr (Richard) Kamwi is really concerned about our health, then he must start regulating the incinerators at his hospitals that are releasing medical waste smoke into the atmosphere. Also they are not fitted with the required standard smoke filters. * MINISTER Kamwi, we in the Katutura Nurses’ Home are tired of taking the stairs to the eighth floor. Lifts haven’t worked for years. No cleaners, the place has been unbearably dirty for seven months. We don’t get rest, the place is full of children, people have their family there. Please, don’t neglect us. Make a surprise visit and act now.- ResidentsGeneral* WOULD you please allow me space in your newspaper to express my view. Why is it that the Government doesn’t allow the Namibian Constitution to be taught in schools, especially at secondary level, because honestly speaking most of us young people don’t know our Constitution. And some don’t even know that it exists. Or is the Government afraid that if the people know the Constitution and compare it with how the Government is governing them, they might lose their position in the Government and Parliament or what is the reason behind it, that the government doesn’t want the Namibian Constitution to be taught in schools. Please can we be heard and be answered.- Hilix NF, Worried Windhoek* JUSTICE must be done to the person who did that to The Dogg and the Police must be strong so that they must find that man where ever he is, because I’m one of the best fans of The Dogg. I don’t want to lose him yet please.- Sandra LK, Katima * FIRST let me thank the Traffic Department on their daily job to reduce road accidents. I am aware that to get a driver’s licence you must be 18 years old and above. But I am shocked in disbelief, old people (age above 80) are still driving, contributing to road accidents as it is getting physically harder for them and they can can’t see any more! Please strip licences from these people, they a contributing to road accidents! Save lives!- There is a compulsory eye test when one renews one’s driving licence. – Newsdesk* MR Albert Kawana is concerned about qualified African students abroad not coming back to Africa to contribute developmentally, but here we have qualified unemployed!Labour Issues* PS in the Ministry of Education. Could each school please have a copy of the present pay structure used by the personnel offices. We’d like to check for ourselves, so we’d understand what the ‘surprise’ deductions described as ‘salary overpayment’ are about. – Meme* TO the person from the South. Just study and get a job. There are no boundaries in Namibia, you can work anywhere.* PLEASE, something must be done at Oamites Military Base we are eating outside and the wind is blowing dust in our food, while others are eating inside. * CAN the Ministry of Health tell us if there is a difference in S&T allowances with other ministries? Is someone forced to take uncooked food when going out?- Simon * WE, the long distance drivers in Namibia, we have problem with our Government. We work for some big companies but we don’t have pension and medical aid. All the things that we use in Namibia are transported by truck, but we got no benefits. If we overturn a truck, lose a leg we will not be going to work again because we have been employed as a driver. * MINISTRY of Defence tell us when the names of those who applied for the Namibian Defence Force are coming out?- Mr Schule, WindhoekACC Alert* ACC please investigate ECN procurement processes! Why has the tender for election items not yet been announced?Lost and Found* I LOST my wallet from Academia, Pionierspark to Katutura with ID card No. 87120500600, two Bob cards, business card. If found call or SMS to 081-214-1331.
