SMSes of the Day : Tuesday

* NAMIBIA, what are we donating to the world’s poorest? For how long are we going to be on the receiving end? Let us generously share our surplus mahangu, beans, etc, with our fellow Africans i.e. countries like Ethiopia, Somalia. The World Food Programme supply isn’t sufficient at all. Please, those people need our support TODAY!

* PARENTS who do not discipline their children, leaving the task to teachers, are contributing to the growing crime rate in Namibia. Please make time for your children and show them love! – Tameka Tatseye Food for thought * IT’S horrifying that Cell One could not find even one woman for their management team! We are glad to have them, but frankly all-male management teams should no longer exist!* CELL One is not my network of choice with their all male executive team. How gender insensitive!* WHEN one listens to those representing Swapo today, one is simply led into an ill-pot filled with confusion. What happened to those who followed in the footsteps of Greats like Thlabanelos, Tjongareros, Bessingers, Axel Johannes, the Hatukuilipis and many others? Thank you* NAMIBIAN Police: A job well done for arresting the second suspect in the murder case of a German tourist.! Keep up the good work.* THANK you detective Job Kauvi. We need more people like you in Namibia.Congratulations* WELWITSCHIAS irrespective of the outcome we will stand behind you as a nation. Keep up the hard work guys. Mr Conradie please hand over the reins, you are the downfall of our team. Concentrate on law and leave the rugby fraternity.* WELWITSCHIAS feel proud, France had to do that as a test. They are the host country, but we are behind you. You do the Land of the Brave proud! Request* SPECIAL REQUEST: Could you please number the messages, for us to comment and criticise each other. Long live the SMS page. Rest assured you’re the people’s NEWSPAPER. Baby dumping* IT is time to discuss the legalisation of abortion.* INNOCENT babies suffer like this, because morality has it that abortion is immoral. How much suffering is better than removal of a Zygote?* THE dumping of babies is not only an issue for women to sort out. It’s an issue for the whole society. What about unemployment benefits or the legalisation of abortion?* IT’S shocking news, a baby buried in the dunes!!! Women demonstrate as you do against men who rape and murder! Fairness please.* BABY dumping is becoming more! Fathers take care of your kids and stop denying your unborn. Be supportive of the woman caring for your child! Uis deal* THANK you to Jossie Kauandenge. Do not leave them alone until they provide answers on who sold Uis village and for what price.* WHAT happened at Uis is a disgrace and a true reflection of the value the Government of the day attaches to the people inhabiting that part of the country. It is an insult to be people of Uis. PLEASE expedite the expropriation of Uis!* ARE we the residents of Uis not Namibians? The President and his ministers have sworn to uphold and protect the interest and welfare of all Namibians, but they betrayed us by signing away our land to a foreigner? This is very serious.Circumcision* CONGRATULATIONS comrade Kamwi for a bold step towards a policy on circumcision. Every intervention likely to cut down the number of new cases of HIV in our country should be pursued seriously. Only a fool would think that circumcision is an invisible condom. Anyway, how many are using them (condoms)? So please let’s go for the full package: ABC and add circumcision.* LET’S get this straight: AIDS and STDs are prevented through responsible sexual conduct, circumcision will never better this in any way. NOBODY TOUCHES MY FORESKIN.* CIRCUMCISION was not only for the Jews, Hereros, Xhosas, Afrikaners, etc. This was also very much a culture of many Africans before we could say Amen.* YEAH, Mr Hands-Off My Foreskin, Dr Kamwi is simply bringing back an old tradition that was destroyed in Namibia by Christianity. Ask your grandparents.Pupils and punishment* THE Education System has been ’empowered’ by ETSIP, but how come teaching becomes more difficult by the day? Surely Mr Steenkamp acted in support of Vision 2030 as Namibia can no longer afford producing drunkards at such young ages but vibrant leaders whose contributions will be meaningful. – Bra Jingo* SMALL communities such as Aranos must appreciate what people like Mr Steenkamp do. It looks like they need such leaders to address the wrongs ignored by many predecessors. You spare the rod, you definitely spoil the child …* ON Tuesday, the JR Camm Primary at Aranos also suspended pupils – just four days after 40 learners were suspended from the high school! Aranos teachers must unite to overcome these challenges for good. I support Mr. Steenkamp’s action.Politics in general* CAN anyone tell the Namibian people why the late comrade Peter Nanyemba a liberation struggle fighter and political organiser is forgotten? Not one street is named after him, especially in his home town of Ondangwa and Walvis Bay, where he was working. One cannot even talk about Windhoek where many comrades names are displayed all around the city streets. Wasn’t he a freedom fighter like others? It was him, Johannes ya Otto Nankudhu and late comrade Tobias Hainyeko, who led the first group of Swapo combatants from Tanzania via Zambia to the Namibian border at Sesheke to initiate the armed liberation struggle in Namibia. The late Ndilimani held many positions in Swapo at different levels, but it seems like his selfless sacrifices and contribution to the liberation struggle was useless. Let’s uplift and display his name like other comrades after whom streets have been named in order for him to be known by current and coming generations.* DO the opposition parties have no voice? How then can we vote for you. None of you has uttered a word on the NSHR issue. We are waiting for your stand.* SWAPO, the election is coming, it’s around the corner. The faster you give our money the better.* WHY is the Government taking years to give land to the San people. If it is a money problem give us back Etosha because we are doubting if our cry will ever be answered.Education* DO people want ‘failures’ to repeat for the sake of keeping the children busy or is it because they cannot think of other options? Many children do not benefit from repeating a grade at all.* UNAM Pro Vice for Academic and Research, and Dean of Faculty of Economics and Management Science. Can you tell us why Dr Bedari is leaving? Is his contract finished or can’t he obtain a work permit from Home Affairs? Have you found a replacement for him? I doubt it, because the Economics Department couldn’t find a lecturer for Applied Econometrics. Please renew his contract! Otherwise economics students are in despair! – Concerned students.* WONDER why Namibians are required to at least have Grade 10 to join the Police or army if most of those found at the Police stations cannot speak English, or at least a bit of Afrikaans.* PS of Education what is happening at the Outjo High School girls hostel? The hostel is being renovated and all the girls have been told to look for accommodation elsewhere in Outjo during this very important semester – end of year final examination for Grade 10 and 12. Mr PS, if we preach education for all let’s be serious about it. If the hostel was posing a threat to the learners I do believe it is the duty of the school to come with alternative instead of the pupils.* DEAR our politicians: This is a humble question. Why is there no tertiary institution in the South especially at Keetmanshoop. There are possible donors such as Namdeb, Rosh Pinah, Scorpion and other mining companies that can assist. I am a worried student along with some colleagues from Keetmans.* I WOULD love the Ministry of Education to give us statistics about how many people matriculated since 2000-06 and got a chance of furthering their studies and where they are now? The ministry should expand tertiary institutions! We’re are just at home despite having completed Grade 12.* I THINK Unam is turning into an institute of affluence. Our Government made an effort to provide loans for us the poor, but it’s of no use because prices are increasing every year, even without an increase in the quality of education. Just remember that we are still a developing country and not every parent can afford the high fees. A wee matter* PEOPLE urinating in public are no different from animals! Toilets are available, they must go and ask when they are at another place or wait until they get to the closest public toilet! Public indecency is immoral! What do these parents teach their children?* IT’S horrifying that Cell One could not find even one woman for their management team! We are glad to have them, but frankly all-male management teams should no longer exist! * CELL One is not my network of choice with their all male executive team. How gender insensitive! * WHEN one listens to those representing Swapo today, one is simply led into an ill-pot filled with confusion.
