SMSes Of The Day : Thursday

* WHAT a childish argument. Claiming ownership of an open space within the boundaries of the muncipal area of Windhoek and elsewhere in Namibia is tantamount to political madness.

* WHY is our political campaigning so barbaric? Campaigning should be about informing the people about the party’s programmes, how they will address national challenges, etc. Leaders stop misusing uninformed people. Namibian voters wake up and think critically, it is not about the flag, the history, the individual, the position but it is about the future of our country and our children. Food For Thought* GRN please imitate the success example of Botswana by promoting sustainable development via good governance and win awards – BAB, KarasOffice Block* FATHER of the Nation [Doctor Sam Nujoma], as a person who came up with the idea of Vision 2030, I don’t think that you will accept this nonsense of the new office. Please focus on your vision.* OUR GRN, the Founding Father needs to rest. He doesn’t need to work again from 8 to 5, he is retired.* THE issue regarding building of the office block for Tate Sam is not necessarily the costs involved, but rather a question of it being a priority. Anyhow, every cent spent, no matter how small, matters to the poorest person.* SWAPO Enterprises can build offices for (President Sam) Nujoma. In 18 years, no financial statements. Shame.* YOU got it wrong! Swapo does not spend their money on Sam Nujoma. They spend your money and mine.* ANA, your statement on justifying spending N$21,6 million in that it would create more jobs, was not properly thought through! So a further N$100 million would also be okay as it would create even more jobs? Point is, that the same amount spent on low-cost housing, schools, etc, in poor areas, not using foreign contractors, is likely to create even more jobs. Furthermore, it would enhance Namibia’s chances in obtaining least-developed nation status. However you are forgiven as you and anyone who supports such a notion, must be doing so tongue in the cheek, isn’t it so?* NAMIBIANS each country has the leaders it deserves! Stop moaning and get onto the streets to protest and stop the theft of N$21 million from the people. Is this the Land of the Brave or the land where you only crave? Stand up for your rights!Politics* SWAPO is not above the law … and no one is of course. Any unlawful act attracts the Police and the media. Swapo is no exception! Why the long faces, honourables?* POLITICIANS are real hypocrites. They will be accompanied by armed bodyguards and instigate violence, then retreat to their safe houses in towns. Then you poor people will be left fighting with your neighbours. I hope that the people of Tobias Hainyeko realise that after the elections they won’t see those ‘generals’ again. – Kotokeni* I WONDER how the Government will react if ex-SWATF and ex-Koevoets decide to camp at Veterans’ Affairs!* THE people of the ruling party are just like their leaders, they don’t respect other people.* AND who is this xenophobic South African who insults Namibians by calling them cockroaches? Rather use your energy to fight crime in your own country and leave Namibia alone.* THE RDP are truly attention seekers. Namibia is a very big country with many open spaces, trees and many other things, why can’t the RDP find other spots or trees apart from those chosen by Swapo to avoid trouble.* (SWAPO Secretary General) Pendukeni (Iivula-Ithana) is using a fallacy known as “poisoning the well”. By claiming of being aware of people hiding in Swapo she is cleverly pre-empting future resignations so that she can say “that is what I told you”.* THE evolution of political violence in our country needs intervention. Who is fooling who? RDP, media or Swapo! Tell us like it is and not the opposite. Let honesty prevail so that we can seek applicable solutions for the progress of political tolerance. – CA Eixab* THE Swapo SG, Ms Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, has got it wrong by claiming that councillors should be consulted by opposition parties for permission to hold rallies in the same way as village headmen before holding a political rally in a village. Councillors are politicians representing their parties but headmen and kings represent all their subjects, both from the ruling party and from the opposition. The law is also clear on this one. Justice for all, Ms Ithana ‘Justice’ minister.* WHY does Prime Minister Nahas Angula always speak in Parliament with his left hand in his pocket? The honourable is giving a not so impressive picture. In Oshiwambo culture, such a gesture is disrespectful, just in case he has been in Windhoek for too long. I understand he is a teacher by profession. Practice what you preach Mr Premier. – Shakes. In And From The Regions* I STAY in Vyfrand Camp and I am tired. I paid N$1 000 for an electricity box but till now nothing has happened. When I ask the municipality of Okahandja, they used to say wait, always wait, until when? I paid the money because I want to read, the exams are near and also I am not working. I am in a struggle.* I WAS admitted to the Grootfontein State Hospital together with colleagues as private patients. We didn’t pay or sign any paper for the hospital to get paid by our medical aid. I saw State patients paying. How do they collect money from us because no address nor medical number is given?* CAN the municipality of Okahandja please do something about our tap water. It smells like sewerage. Some days it’s better and then worse again. Please respond.* WHY are the Honourable Regional Councillors of Rundu Rural West and Rundu Rural East not honouring the Regional Councils Act article 6 (a) (iii) which stipulates that councillors must reside in their constituencies? ACC please investigate.Price Pain* IT’S hurting too much. We are paying our TV licence here in Etunda but there is no broadcasting, not even NBC. You can just turn the TV off if you don’t have a dish. But what about those who can’t afford it? And we want NBC to broadcast Big Brother because we are very much behind.General* I THINK the TV news should be shifted to 19h30, many of us get home at about that time and miss the daily news. Please NBC do something. – Irene, Windhoek* NBC please review your TV broadcasting. The news at 19h00 is inconvenient, then again if you want to watch news at 22h00 its not shown because there is soccer like on Tuesday. Not all of Namibia watches soccer and we all pay TV licences. Let’s respect the time scheduled for the news and show soccer at another time. – Frustrated TV Licence Payer.* EDITOR please allow me space in your newspaper to express my views on the issues of people killing their lovers and themselves. This is human anger and I believe we can control and handle it. I learn also that we youth, mostly some women, are never in a relationship for love, but for the sake of wealth and this is the cause of the problem. There I request we have a national talk on this issue please. – P Ishitile* WHY is the New Era office closed in Oshakati? Can the CEO Mr Black explain what is going on since New Era is a public institution funded by taxpayers.Bouquets And Brickbats* I WOULD like to congratulate President (Festus) Mogae for setting a good example to SADC leaders! Well done.* CONGRATS to Mr Festus Mogae for winning the 2008 Mo Ibrahim prize for good governance, hear that African (mis)leaders? It is actually possible to lead a people, leave when the time is right and still be respected. Botswana has been a trendsetter for many such achievements, and I can bet my last penny, Mr Ian Khama, son of the great Bangwato tribe of Botswana will be next to win it. I am not Motswana, don’t get me wrong, but I just love the way the Batswana respect the rule of law. I was once in Botswana leading to general elections, and there I witnessed democracy at work, true democracy, good governance in Africa. Prior to stepping down, Mr Mogae toured his country to say “goodbye” to his people. He was greeted and welcomed as a hero by all his people from all across Botswana. Any one of our leaders, like King Mugabe wanna beat that? Some of these guys think they have some divine right to be in power. Look at Botswana, don’t you envy them? Don’t you want to step aside, for the good of your countries, when you are still loved by all? Do you want to erase all memories of your gallant efforts of liberating your countries only to be remembered as tyrants and dictators? I know deep down many of you envy achievements of Botswana. When do we start serving, run for public office on real issues like Americans? I promise you, none of our African leaders would achieve what Obama did in USA, because instead of issues they would be talking of how they were brought as slaves to the US etc, imagine how far Obama would have gone on this election had he done what we see here in Africa. Apartheid this, colonialism that, I am hungry sir, how do create employment, how do you improve our education system, that’s what we want to hear. Of course we must remember our past, but that doesn’t buy me bread. Learn from Botswana. – TKEducation* CAN the Omusati educational director inspect the chairs and tables even classrooms at Eshakeno PS in Okalongo circuit. This school is suffering, even parents are tired of contributing hundreds of dollars every year for classroom construction. Or is it not a formal school like others?* [EDUCATION Minister] Mr [Nangolo] Mbumba please educate some of your school principals about the differences between schools and their homes. Or else, ETSIP is a waste of resources.* PLEASE Ministry of Education and the director of Oshikoto, we want you to do something about the N$10 000 that went missing at Ekulo SSS. We want our children to be refunded the money to pay for their outstanding school fees. Can you please do something before our children leave the school premises because they are about to finish with their exams. – Concerned parents and learners* WHY does it take so long for the Polytechnic of Namibia to refund those students that got a loan from Government? Their process is very frustrating and it takes a student two off-days to go to claim this money. Please management do something about this process. And remember some of those monies were borrowed from banks/cash loans. Interests are very unbearable and not all parents are well off!* IOL is using us teachers. We registered with them and finished our courses and paid for the courses but they keep on deducting from our salaries with no contractual agreement.Disconnections* Can MTC explain what is going on? I have 150 free SMSes, yet I cannot use them * YES MTC. What can we do with 400 free SMSes if we cannot send them?* MR (Bob) Kandetu world history is in the making in the USA with the upcoming presidential elections. Why can’t the NBC relay to the Namibians the build up to the elections and the swearing-in of the president through CCN after the normal TV transmission ends? It would be to the benefit of the majority of Namibians that can’t afford to watch CNN on DStv. One Africa is transmitting BBC after their scheduled programming, certainly the NBC can.Service Please* WHY was I charged N$13 for exchanging coins for notes at FNB Rehoboth?Food For Thought * GRN please imitate the success example of Botswana by promoting sustainable development via good governance and win awards – BAB, Karas Office Block * FATHER of the Nation [Doctor Sam Nujoma], as a person who came up with the idea of Vision 2030, I don’t think that you will accept this nonsense of the new office.
