SMSes of the Day : Thursday

* WHY are the veterans getting an increase and pensioners have struggled to get a decent increase for many years? What is happening to this country? Could we be informed of the reasons for the increase so that we could see whether our elders do not really need a hike of their monthly pensions.- Magano Asser

* I WOULD like to warn butchery owners at Okahandja to stop buying game and other meat without ensuring those selling are in possession of legal permits. If you don’t stop this practice you will go to jail. * THE Immigration Selection Board need to speed up the issuance of work permits. It’s affecting investments, hence denying employment and establishment of joint ventures.Food for thought* I THINK N$60 for pensioners had more buying value in 1989 than the N$370 in 2007 given the inflation rate. So, don’t criticise Katuutire Kaura and expose your weakness on simple economic matters in the process.* DR Abraham Iyambo (Minister of Marine Resources), why is fish so expensive in Namibia as if it is imported? Does your ministry assess the market price?* PLEASE legalise child labour and prostitution since there are no jobs for graduates and Grade 10 and 12 failures. I don’t think that the problem of unemployment has a better solution.Nam-Zim power deal* MR Shilamba is a liability for NamPower! He must ship out! How can Government make such a deliberate uneconomical decision! This is total disrespect for taxpayers, who finance Government spending.* NAMIBIA has reached a watershed, with astronomical allowances to the so-called veterans and NamPower debt write-off to Zetco, which was just a badly camouflaged gift to comrade Mugabe. Government has now clearly chosen the Mugabe road to destruction. Namibians awake! – Ziggy* IT angers me to see NamPower throw away millions in Zimbabwe. I will make sure my vote goes to RDP in 2009. Enough is enough!* NAMZIM loan is not payable in cash, but electricity and is currently being implemented. The issue has nothing to do with impairment, which by definition means ‘decrease in amount’. – Please note, “impairment” was the word used by NamPower – Newsdesk* FIRE the people who approved the NamPower loan. We all knew it would not be paid back. People without vision should not be allowed to approve such loans.Politics in general* SOME call Dr [Hage] Geingob the comeback kid, but others think that he is the crawlback kid. Who knows.* DID Dr [Joe] Diescho receive his qualifications only to criticise or to contribute constructively to Namibia? Diescho please tell us publicly how one can compare you and Dr Hage Geingob.* DIESCHO is 100 per cent correct and as a young Swapo by birth and a Namibian I support him. My dear leaders in charge, please govern the country and leave the name calling. – Emvula* RDP, please help the taxpayers! Can Swapo not register the war veterans under the pension scheme for senior citizens and pay them all N$500, instead of veterans being enriched at the expense of other Namibians.* VIVA Swapo. The resignation of people from Swapo does not mean anything. We young ones are there for you Swapo. We are ready to vote for Swapo’s true leader not power-hungry men for our future.* SWAPO and Mr Geingob, do you have anything constructive to contribute towards the pressing issues facing our country other than to call people names who do not agree with you. It is time you realise you have failed our country.* WHO are the reactionaries now? Pendukeni Ithana [Swapo Secretary General and Minister of Justice] now has interviews to react to RDP comments, which shows that the RDP is setting the agenda. Swapo should hire a strategic planner to infuse new ideas.* NATIONAL Society for Human Rights should stay out of politics and focus on issues of national concern. We are tired of your attacks on [former President] Sam Nujoma and Swapo. Your organisation must serve its purpose or have you also lost focus and vision?* JESAYA Nyamu and Hidipo Hamutenya [both of the RDP], you are confusing us. Why don’t you shut up and leave Swapo alone. You’ve failed the nation already. What strategies are you going to use to create good opportunities for society? – Ndahafa* WHAT is wrong with Swapo, they criticise other parties even if it’s their fault. They must trust in their members if they want to beat any party. – Mukulala* WHAT is currently happening is a wake-up call to the Swapo Party leadership. Where are the promises you made us? You owe us we the community of Hoachanas an explanation.* IF the Swapo Government has failed, as the RDP claims, then the RDP will never bring about any changes once elected to power. You guys, you grew up in Swapo and have the same mentality as the ruling party. So I guess it’s a situation of like father like son. – Nicky, Ompundja* SHAME on Swapo! Do something, it gives the whole Ovitoto community a negative image.* I WAS admitted to Tsandi hospital on December 11. The army should look for land elsewhere, even in the desert, for its training.* IS there any youth council at Usakos and if there’s can they please address alcohol abuse by the youth, mostly schoolgoing children.* HARDAP Regional Council, Mariental Urban Constituency Councillor, and Governor Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, what happened to the sewage system at Hoachanas?
