SMSes of the Day : Monday

SMSes of the Day : Monday

* HELLO MTC! How about a new slogan: “Message not sent, try again later”. 45 unsuccessful attempts to send an SMS should be enough inspiration.

* SINCE RDP has penetrated the former Owambo, Swapo is now using Oshiwambo at public gatherings in the region. Now the stage has been set: away with the so-called official language (English). Back to our ethnic roots: speak Damara-Nama when you are in “Damara-Namaland”, speak Otjiherero when you are in “Hereroland”, speak Lozi when you are in Caprivi, speak Afrikaans when you are at Rehoboth. At the end of your speech you must shout “One Namibia, many languages!” Food for thought* THE truth always hurts in Namibia. Let’s start to see someone who is telling the truth as a concerned fellow Namibian rather than an agent! [Jesaya] Nyamu [of the RDP] is right about the railway. The only bulk cargo for the North currently is cement and fuel. Fuel is still going by road to the North. The volumes of both commodities are simply not enough to justify the rail network. In addition, even at 100 per cent occupancy when operational (which is most of time not the case) the revenue of the new train (OGS) will continue for years to not even recover the basic cost of fuel. Another almost permanent barrier for the viability of OGS is the 18-20 hours it takes the train between Windhoek and Ondangwa unless another N$1-2 billion is invested to upgrade the line between Okahandja, Krantzberg and Tsumeb! Thus if Namibians can’t dare to ask whether the investment was justified considering all above mentioned then there is something seriously wrong with our country!* THE type of service we get from MTC is pathetic. On Friday I wanted to send an SMS and every time I tried they sent me an SMS saying that the message has failed. This happened 5 or 6 times. To my horror when I checked my credit it was all gone. On Saturday morning I phoned the customer service to ask why they deducted from my credit although my SMS did not go through. The rude worker answered that I am supposed to know that the SMS did go through even though they say it didn’t before she slammed the phone in my ears. MTC should pay back my credit. They should not use dirty tactics to exploit poor customers. Not even a fool would send the same SMS five times if he is told that his SMS has gone through.Politics in general* SWAPO still talks about how they liberated the country after 18 years of Independence. I wonder what they will talk about over the next 18 years? Let me guess, the liberation struggle, way to go for Vision 2030, or should I say Vision 3020 at the rate of progress in terms of development.* [HAGE] GEINGOB is not a political opportunist, but a political giant. [Jospeh] Diescho is not an intellectual prostitute, but an intellectual giant. If these two giants start fighting each other, Namibia will suffer grievously. But if they start supporting and complementing each other, Namibia will benefit greatly. – Samson* JOB well done at Omuthiya, NamPol, during the RDP and Swapo rallies on Saturday. Swapo just wanted to provoke and interrupt the RDP rally. To their credit, they only managed to give the RDP a red carpet welcome by lining along the road and cheer. Good for tolerance?* Dr Hage Geingob, sometimes when the truth is pointed out it is so painful and hard to swallow. What Dr Diesho pointed out was when you democratically tried to stand for Swapo’s vice president position in your party you were demoted from Prime Minister to Local Government. You did not accept it, why? You felt an injustice was committed that is why you nearly went into a second exile in USA. When you came back you became a backbencher in the National Assembly. As a leader to whom we all are looking up to, you did not even one day try to raise debate to address these undemocratic practices in your party. The election of Dr Geingob to Swapo vice president is but a scapegoat to mend a breaking Swapo Party. Yes, you did compromise out of fear, lest you be kicked out of the party. That is the fear Sam Nujoma created in Swapo.* WE can’t wait to see the miracles of Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu! The big question however is, why now? Be honest gents and ask the people to just butter your bread.* I’M very disappointed by the utterances of Charles Siyauya (self-styled Kapia). Little did I know that he’s a messiah of tribalism. Shame on you comrade. For your information, ask Sibalatani how he became successful against the late Likando. Comrade, think before you talk.* SPYL should actually read Spy League! Siyauya just confirmed that! * THOSE claiming that Swapo has failed them, if they’re truly concerned about development in Namibia then they should advise the Swapo government currently ruling Namibia how to go about it rather than blaming Swapo. – Abedi* NYAMU and Hidipo, please concentrate on your party and its affairs and stop fooling us. You and your followers will remain losers for as long as you live. To hell with your so-called RDP. Swapo is here to stay.* POLITICS does not build the country, so don’t confuse the young generation! Just educate them and give them the value of peace. – J Mwapopi.* WHY do Swapo and the RDP only hold rallies in the North?* IF Swapo is not a tribal party, why is it only pleading to the Owambo-speaking Namibians in the North not to listen to other parties? I am a Damara-speaking Namibian and have realised now that my votes in the past for Swapo were never recognised.* COMRADE Nyamu, when is the RDP coming to the Otjozondjupa Region, especially Grootfontein, because many of us here are tired of Swapo and would want to join the party of the future!* ACC, please tell us if the use of Government property such as cars, fuel cards, GRN funds used to pay for accommodation and to pay drivers to Swapo rallies is not corruption and if it is corruption why are you turning a blind eye and allowing taxpayers’ money to be wasted by Swapo Party?Education* WHY is it that our kids are refused a second chance? If they fail Grade 10 they are sent to the streets. Should they set a foot wrong the same fate befalls them. Are we disciplining or hurting them and with that the nation at large? Even criminals get pardons! Someone please answer me.* MALE teachers at Omega Combined School must stop dating schoolgirls. They are disturbing their education. Shame on you teachers. – Swabi* ORPHANS have to suffer at the hands of school officials. If a Grade 8 student cannot get placement at Concordia, should he/she also join the Grade 10s on the streets. The right to education does not apply to Concordia College. Shameful disgrace.* WE are qualified teachers but we are not employed. The Ministry of Education should stop the training of teachers if there are no job opportunities. Please squeeze us in.* MR (Toivo) Mvula, why are Himba children not allowed to study at Ruacana High School if that school is in their area? The school accepts only pupil from other regions while Himba children are ignored.* THE Ministry of Education is able to lobby for billions of dollars for the ETSIP programme, but cannot get this money to better the living conditions of teachers in remote areas. To make matters even worse, those teachers living in compounds have to pay for them, water and electricity. Please ministry, build proper houses for teachers in remote areas.* MINISTRY of Education please pay students’ loans, it’s too late for excuses.* SCHOOLS in remote areas do not qualify for bailouts in terms of facilities such as libraries, computers, projects etc, but how the hell does Air Namibia do it? They just do it maybe. From the regions* MR Heita’s comments in the article ‘NSHR got it wrong’ creates the impression that Oukwanyama is an exclusive area for Kwanyamas only, where other communities cannot establish their own traditional authorities and instead should join the OTA. Why then do different traditional authorities co-exist in other areas?* KARAS region definitely needs an independent Governor with vision and initiative. – B.A.B* THE Municipality of Karasburg, please do us proud and resign, you cannot wait for 2010, the people will die.* WHY are those cowards breaking prepaid water meter taps at Tutungeni at Rosh Pinah? Innocent people are suffering. Be a man and show yourself. It is not the President’s problem, solve it yourself. The guilty parties must be prosecuted.General* WHY do we need to be charged 15 per cent on Tango recharges from February 1? All we read about in our local newspapers are the daily increments on oil, food, water, electricity and now Tango recharge vouchers but to raise people’s salaries always remains a national debate. What do our leaders do? Absolutely nothing, yet they have the nerve to ask for our votes! Vote for what?* MINISTRY of Health is wasting the resources of the Government on foreign doctors. These doctors are getting fixed overtime and transport allowances but when called to attend to patients after hours a Government car has to be sent to pick them up. They own cars but they park and wait to be picked up.Now the driver has to claim overtime and the cost of fuel is also high. Why are they not treated like volunteers and not like any public servant?* I AM a resident of Dorado Park, corner of Bach Street and Florence Nightingale. Every now and then there is an accident on that road and secondly, it is very difficult for one to get or cross that road if you are coming from the State Hospital side or from Bach Street during peak hours and it causes delays either for crossing or getting into the main road. I am appealing to the City of Windhoek to consider putting up traffic lights as a matter of urgency please, to minimise accidents. Thank you.Food for thought * THE truth always hurts in Namibia.
