SMS Of The Day
*NAMIBIA is a developing country. My concern is the lack of interest shown in human development. If emphasis was put on human capital development, the level of skilled labour could have been much improved. As human beings, we learn from our mistakes. Thus it is not too late to do it the right way. A little done consistently will, over a long time, take us much further than nothing done at all. With enough effort and willingness, we can address the plight of many unemployed people in our country. I sincerely hope that all of us do something about this and we stop blaming.
Food for Thought*IF MTC and Red Cross can come up with ideas to raise funds for hungry people in Somalia, then why not do the same for poor hungry people in Namibia scavenging for expired food at dumping sites countrywide?- Borro *COULD architects give us a picture of how many houses, clinics, classrooms etc could have been built with N$128 million spent on that museum. – Waltraut.Bouquets and Brickbats*DR Hu Berry was a great ambassador for Namibia! Can we honour him by naming a park, museum or street after him?Back to the queues*SHOW some gratitude. Are there still queues at CoW offices of people wanting to buy electricity? If not, why are we still going on about the power cut as a result of misappropriation of ratepayers money by that greedy payment system company? An apology was given. Whoever does not want to accept it should go to heaven with their sainthood (by implication). This is real life not fiction. CoW had valid reasons to take such decisions. The High Court agreed with it in essence. Why do we think we are perfect? Had CoW announced the power cut in advance, can one guess how many millions it would have lost and the same people would still blame them for not just cutting the power instantly. Namibian people, you are hard to please. Blame the thief not the CoW.*ANY comment from authority about the scavenging? Of course not, it is the ostrich act again. *MTC and the Red Cross should take all the donations they’re collecting for Somalia and use it on the hungry Namibians eating expired food at dump off sights. What idiocy is this? Or take back the millions donated to Japan for the earthquake (a first world country) and wire it to Somalia! Somalian drought victim*AM trying hard to understand why Namibians are so touched by the Somalia situation when we have people eating in the dumping site.- Jutta*WHY should Namibian people help Somalian people while some Namibians are eating food from dumping site?*NAMIBIAN leaders are good at making speeches and statements. The nation is tired of empty plans and so-called visions. We want action for a change.*I AM tired of allegations. I used to hear about gas exploration and the Kudu gas project to start in Namibia. That was 1998. Please let me be really convinced if we have oil in our country. It has became a song of the day, but it will disappoint us just like the Kudu gas that we have waited for so long. – Hadampa. *THIS is my second complaint about hosting our national events and personalities from other country. Last year it fell on deaf ears. I simply don’t understand why we have to invite celebrities from other countries to be MCs. Do our people also get invited to MC in other countries beauty pageants? Let’s keep it local please. *HAVING fun picture of Monday could also read having fun near danger. Just thought of the power lines I saw in the background of that picture. Hope the journalist told the kids about the danger of flying kites close to power lines. Counting Heads*WHO is failing who at NPC? I am one of the facilitators at Tsumeb. I was called from my Ministry and experience this humiliating treatment by NPC. If I knew I wouldn’t have accepted the invitation. I was told I would be paid rate 1 and had to make my own bookings. My hotel bill now amounts to N$ 4 000 but I have still not received anything from NPC. The training is ending August 10. Both facilitators and trainees are wandering around Tsumeb. Please PS and the DG of NPC do something urgent. Your silence compromises the quality of this training and ultimately the population census results. Please this is a national exercise and the key to drive the nation development goals.Horn of Africa*EAST Africa drought crisis. Let’s see – western imperialists pledges to date U$688 million. The AU … oh yes, still to meet. Law and OrderShared among 15*PLEASE help us. The Station Commander at Swakopmund Police Station doesn’t come to listen to our problems and it’s the second time this month there is no food at the station. We had to divide 1 bread among 15 prisoners.
Crack cocaine*CAN Khomasdal please come together to stop the sale of crack cocaine. Merchants are living lavishly while families are destroyed! Please provide number for DEA.*CITY Police officers can you patrol Boitumelo Street during the night? There is a young gangster grabbing people’s handbags. People from the taxis are targeted.*IT is with dismay and disbelief that one Sunday morning I caught two male security guards contracted by the MoHSS trying to break in a car parked at the Windhoek Central Hospital nurses home. It’s about time they screen their guards as well! *NO wonder a police officer was bumped at Oshiko roadblock in Oshana Region. They are often drunk. Please Mr Kashihakumwa talk to your officers.*PLEASE The Namibian, tell the nation about groups of men pretending to come from Angola and Malawi. These men take money from people through any means such as changing US dollars or selling precious stones. These people must be arrested because they thieves. Anyone who is approached by these thugs please shout so that you can be helped.*DIRECTOR of Legal Aid can you please explain the purpose of getting legal aid from your office and having to pay exorbitant fees in an estate case. What is wrong also in assisting someone who can’t understand English?*PLEASE Warrant Kohima talk to your officers. There are problems at Gochas Police Station. They don’t arrive on time, don’t answer calls and aren’t around when a serious issue happens.Talking Taxes*IT’S sad how the Ministry of Finance sits on the citizens’ tax returns. Some people haven’t received their returns since 2008. Minister S Kuugongelwa-Amadhila please sort out that house or is it our returns that boost the 2011/2012 budget? We ought to know what’s happening with our money?Politics in General*IT seems citizens of some countries matter more than of other countries. Like the Libyans but not the Syrians. Nato please quit the hypocrisy.Education*I WANT to congratulate you Dr Iyambo for a job well done. Visiting schools can gain you more info about the schools. Send investigators to Bet-el PS. Many things are happening in that school that the management is scared to talk about.*DR Iyambo, with the media, can you please also visit schools or teachers who are doing a good job. It may encourage others to do the same and at the same time, one is balancing the negative with the positives!*DR Iyambo please look into the August holiday. Some of us need two days to travel home and two days travel back. The 9-day school holidays is expensive, tiring and psychologically frustrating! Punishing teachers like this will not increase the pass rate. A minimum of 14 days peace of mind is reasonable.*NAMCOL Director! When will students who did their certificates in local government studies last year get their certificates?*PRIME Minister and Ministry of Education secretaries are also human beings, like teachers, we also need bush allowances like teachers.- From school secretaries*I AM a teacher and I did my advanced diploma in education management with CACC and completed it in September 2010. But up to now the diploma has not been awarded to me or my colleagues. We were told that we were supposed to receive them in May. When you call their office the telephone just rings and there is no reply. I have registered with Unisa for my masters but because of the outstanding result, I might not be admitted. I therefore humbly request our Minister to instruct them to award us. We paid a lot of money for the course. n I LIKE the way our Government has developed our sovereign country. Water, yes it’s there. But please Dr Iyambo consider Omatelekelo kindergarden becoming a primary school. It has been so long since 1993 but no change up to now. Pupils walk 7km to Ongolo or Omahila combined school. I hope you will understand these crying grandmothers and fathers.Health Matters*THE pap smear that is to be conducted at the Windhoek Central Hospital is a very great idea. But some of us women stay in far away settlements. How will we get there? Pap smear clinic organisers please consider this. Transport fees are the major problem.*WINDHOEK Central Hospital management and those in charge at the mental institute need serious training. In and From the Regions*MINISTER Jerry Ekandjo be serious with all your councillors countrywide, they want to become CROs, directors and even receptionists please train them to know what is expected from them.*COUNCILLOR Shimutwikeni please report the water from Oshindobe village. People are drinking dirty water that causes diseases to people.
*THE Okahao Constituency councillor must stop disseminating misleading information about dividing Uukuuvu village into two villages! Consult those who have been there for more than two and half centuries in our traditional authority. We don’t believe in divide and rule, corruption, division and bias.We want to buy*HELAO Nafidi Town Council why are you charging residents water basics? Especially those between Onuno and Ohangwena. You haver not provided any service to us since the town was proclaimed. Water meters are as far as 400 to 500 metres away from our yards. *I REQUEST the Ministry of Works and Transport to tar the Onyuulaye gravel road. It is so dangerous during the rainy season.n ONGWEDIVA Town Council, we the residents of Jackson Kaueva Street are tired of chickens and dogs running around our yards. They are ruining our gardens. Take immediate action against the owners. Let the owners keep their animals in their yards. Service PleaseRunning out of cards*TELECOM please buy more phone cards because the cards are getting finished in the whole country every time. *PATHETIC service at Woermann Brock Maerua Mall!Labour Issues*AS far as the National Planning Commission is concerned, planning is the least of their priorities. Doing things at the last minute is the order of the day from the so-called highly rated planning entity. Our back pay is still due and so is our S & T.- Concerned Mwatile*SOCIAL Security we always hear of benefits increasing and services expanding. Why is it that Workmen’s Compensation pensioners have not seen any increase since 2004 and before that in 1997? That is one increase in 14 years. This is a disgrace. Your employees have to pay increases every year since 1998. Why not us? Is your cost of living different than us?Please Help*CAN somebody out there please help me to get hold of the Khomas Pensioners Association.Lost and Found*IJI Kanyeumbo lost his Namibian driver’s licence earlier this year in Ondangwa. NBC*I THINK NBC news at 20h00 and 22h00 are all highlights. There is no more proper news on NBC. This is not fair to some community members because not everyone has access to or can afford newspapers to read full stories. News desk explain why converted the 20h00 (bulletin) into highlights which do not mean anything anymore.- Unhappy KandiResponses to recent SMSes*I SUPPORT the SMS that says limit the term for all Ministers and parliamentarians to two terms only. Prime Minister feedback please. *I THINK Tobie Aupindi is correct. There are only two ways to spend money, either for production or for consumption. Public administration and other services-related courses are not just Namibian priorities yet because our economy is still at a primary stage. This means we need to do more on the production sector like invention, innovation, processing plus all value adding activities using our own resources or raw materials. By doing so we are pushing our economy to the next level, the secondary level where we will need more public administrators, accountants, lawyer etc. Now we are focusing on wrong things. All you want is to wear are ties and big spectacles to appear academic and complicated in air conditioned offices with big chairs. Countries are not built like that, first overalls then tie and briefcase.- P M Nembenge
