* AMERICANS irrespective of their colour made world history. Black Americans achieved their forefathers’ dreams. God save Africa from dictators, wars, famines and hatred. We cry for Africa.

Food For Thought
* NATIONAL reconciliation is contained in the Preamble of our glorious Constitution!

Man Of The Moment
* BARACK Obama is officially sworn in as the 44th President of the USA. Africa may and must learn from Obama that the world can change. ‘Yes it can’. Thank you President Obama. It is a wake up call for Namibia.

* WHAT a sweet moment!

* MMMM … Congratulations President Obama the black president in the ‘White House’. That’s democracy in practice. African leaders will follow the example soon There’s a difficult task ahead of you to reform the world economy brother.
– Dizza Gawanab

* ‘THE Change we Need’: Barack Obama is eventually the 44th President. With huge responsibility and very high expectations the world has of him, my family and I are praying God to keep him and guide him to deliver.
– Kakotse (Snr)

* GOSH! An event like that I will attend any time. The whole process took 18 minutes. I hope our Government organisers have learned something new. Please stop backing the nation in the sun. Congrats President Obama and for giving that outstanding speech. I hope the African leaders and their nations listened.

* IT gives me great pleasure to have been able to witness the prophecy of MLK (Martin Luther King) come true. Let this moment energise us to rededicate ourselves to work towards a prosperous nation. Mr President (Obama) I wish you well.

* I’M confident that President Barack Obama of the USA will restore world peace!

* ONLY in America can a black man become the president of a predominantly white country! Is America a great country or what? It is definitely the end of the Ku Klux Klan! Viva America, land of immigrants! Verwoerd is violently turning in his grave!

The Obama Example
* I HOPE our leaders have learned from President Obama that whenever they address the nation they speak from the heart and not from a piece of paper.
– Tau and Shati

* IN America they have now a younger president and we also need change in our Namibia. We don’t want an old president because he or she only knows the old style. Namibia make a change please! We are not happy.

* AFRICAN heads of State take an example from President Obama of not reading a speech written but from your own minds.

* THE inauguration of President Obama was nice and short, no liberation struggle mentioned, Almighty God well spoken. Next Namibian leader please follow suite

Politics In General
* WHEN is (Regional and Local Government and Housing Minister) Jerry Ekandjo addressing a rally or public meeting again? Sometimes he can be very entertaining!

* NAMIBIANS, please let us rescue our country from people who care only about retaining their political positions. (President Hifikepunye) Pohamba only talks about winning the upcoming election rather than tackling the many challenges facing Namibia.

* PRESIDENT Pohamba must first call the loose cannons to order before he talks about peaceful elections.
– Brian

* HON (Mc Henry) Venaani also demanded and accepted the 24 per cent cost of leaving adjustment! Is he also selfish?

God And Politics
* I AM watching the Obama Inauguration and my four-year-old asks: ‘Mom, is Obama also God, like Sam Nujoma?’ Angry and surprised I asked her to explain. Her answer shocked me. She said: ‘Mom when we were in church at Oshigambo with my granny, there was a funeral and people were singing in church that they believe in Sam Nujoma.’ I need advice from the Elcin priests, and church leaders. What do I tell my daughter?’ Why when we are trying to instil Christianity in our kids, you are allowing them to be confused? Is it true that the house of God was used for political campaigning? Where is our society going? Church leaders, how can I take this idea out of this child’s mind?

ACC Alert
* ACC please come and investigate how the Ministry of Works and Transport is allocating GRN houses at Mariental. We need clarity on why houses are only allocated to one group?

* ONLY certain contractors are being awarded tenders in the Kunene Region from the Kunene Regional Council and the Khorixas Town Council. Can the ACC please look into this?
– Concerned Contractor

In And From the Regions
* KHORAB Junior Secondary School children in Otavi are walking in the town roads like donkeys. Cars are getting out of the way of them. There is not even a scholar patrol. Who will be responsible if a child is run over? Khorab I think you can do better.

* HENTIES BAY Municipality you don’t have money but you still need expensive staff. Why? What are the councillors doing to prevent the town going bankrupt?
– Eddie

* I AM a southerner working in the North. I can sincerely say that people are working very hard under difficult circumstances to achieve what they have. The leaders are approachable and helpful unlike on our side. I am very happy to be here. People, elders and youth show respect and that’s what matters.

* INSTEAD of naming Tseiblaagte streets, the Town Council of Keetmanshoop is just fighting. Please we are also part of Namibia.
– Ivo

* IT is a shame now to say one is from Grootfontein as it has turned into a mini China and military town! There is no development only self-enrichment amongst a select few who hold public office. The only changes are those at their farms and homes while the masses are in dire need of development!

* PLEASE Ministry of Health put a clinic at Amakali Primary School in Oshikoto region. Walking 10 km to go a clinic at Onayena is far to go. It is 12 km to Okatope clinic. Please help.
– F Nangy

* PLEASE parents in Walvis Bay, we are struggling to enjoy our time at shebeens as adults. Kids ranging from 13 -17 years are drinking and fighting outside and inside. Police at Walvis Bay please help us.

* KATIMA Town Council when are they going to sell erven?

Taxing Questions
* CAN the Ministry of Finance tell us why a person who resigns from Government work has tax deducted on both credit leave days and on a pension?
– Alexco

* HONOURABLE Saara Kuugongelwa can you stop deducting the bonuses from your poor armed forces. Instead of me furnishing my one bedroom cottage, our bonuses are being triple deducted to feed the 24 per cent increment of MPs.
– BIT

* I’D like to give my two cents worth on the issue of tax on savings. If you ask the average income earner, it is extremely hard to save because of the high cost of living, but through scrimping and going without, you manage to put some money away for a rainy day. Now the Government wants to double tax us? It seems our Government is getting more and more out of touch. Maybe they should step out of their tinted-window Volvos and step into the real world.

Bouquets And Brickbats
* THANKS One Africa television for the special coverage of the iauguration of President Barack Obama, son of the African soil now President of one of the greatest powers on earth. Keep it up guys.

Education
* UP to now schools in Elim Circuit haven’t received any stationery (activity books for learners). How can one teach without books? It is really frustrating. At the end of the day, it is teachers who get blamed.
– Frustrated teacher.

* PLEASE change the education system in Namibia. What does overage mean if you said education is for all. How can I register at Namcol for six subjects at N$183 each if one can’t even afford one subject. Can the Ministry of Education re-consider poor people and change the system before the next election to avoid chaos in the country.
– RO, Eenhana.

* POLYTECH please change your system and allow us to register once a year only!

* I WOULD like to know why the trainees from Vocational Training Colleges are not given allowances when on j
ob attachment. The minister should consider us also because we can’t work for free and the staff are even misusing us. Please help!

* RURAL parents must stop moving their kids to Windhoek with the hope that they will pass and get more involved in the education of their children. A caller to the Otjiherero NBC Radio wanted his child to stay the whole term in the hostel! In actual fact he had lost control over his own child and want to shift the responsibility onto the teachers. If Rietquelle outshined A Shipena, Augustineum, etc why can’t Epukiro Post 3 do the same? Now Windhoek is full of kids from Omaheke while Gustav, Epukiro and C Heuva are empty and underutilised!

And Justice For All
* GIVEN their exorbitant fees, it is disheartening to read that an advocate at the official opening of the High Court declared access to the courts by lay litigants undesirable. What a bleak prophecy for the indigent.

* MR JUDGE PRESIDENT it’s good to see that most of the criminal cases’ statistics have improved or been finalised. But yet where is the Magistrates Court case No CR182/03/06 Windhoek. Since March 2006 but not finalised. Postponed 10 times because every time there is no magistrate at Windhoek Magistrate’s Court. You fly in to be told to come again in June 2009. Do some thing please it costs money.

Media Mirror
* PLEASE can NBC Open File repeat the Kamholo family story. Some of us did not see it. Please.
– Joy, Walvis Bay

* PLEASE join me in this short prayer. Almighty Heavenly Father be with the Kamholo family who are in desperate need for help! And forgive those you gave the power and authority to rule us and feed us but remain ignorant!
– Proud yet poor Namibian who is willing to help but can’t

General
* WHAT is going on with our churches? The youth are running away. Please make the churches more interesting for us. Stop with the old-fashioned way.
– Derick Vgk

* AT Suiderhof Military Base we are always getting rotten fruit. Maybe the fridge is not up to standard or they ordered fruit which was already rotten. Health inspectors come and inspect here please.

Disconnections
* MTC please stop your promotions which are overloading the network. On the 20th at about 21:00 I had to make two important calls – 20 times of either ‘Error in Connection’ or ‘Network Busy’ is no pleasure.

* MTC please don’t offer free airtime anymore until your network can operate all one million subscribers simultaneously.
– Frustrated by busy network.

* THE sale of Cell One means great things for consumers, but what would be better is if some rich tycoon could buy GTV and make it less boring.
– Alton Tsowaseb
