* IS Namibia for people from exile only, their parents are getting money and now they want jobs, what about us who fought inside? Our parents are dead too.

Food For Thought
* HUGE and unbudgeted payouts to war vets as well as unmanaged or mismanaged land reform programmes are causes/reasons why a country to the far east of Namibia is where it is today. Sadly the pattern is becoming uncomfortably familiar with the turn of events of late. History has a tendency to repeat itself, but the clever ones always take note and avoid pitfalls into which others stumbled and fell in. Namibians are far more streetwise than to allow their beautiful country to suffer a similar fate, particularly with a thriving democracy such as the one seen around. The tide should be stemmed before it becomes irreversible. – Nony
Cassinga
* I SUPPORT Agnes who suggested a tombstone with names. As one who lost a lot of relatives in the massacre, I know the sacrifice was never in vain.
Signs Of The Times
* THIS street sign writing mistake appears to be a clear indication of an [alleged] political appointment. Someone who knows nothing about the job is getting the job because he/she belongs to the same political party. Political appointments will kill Namibia.
* WHICHEVER company was hired to put up street signs, I am concerned whether a proper tender procedure was applied. This is image damage to Namibia. Can the ACC please investigate. The spelling mistakes are just far too many to ignore.
* SPELLING ROAD as ROOAD and WESTERN as WESTRN is the result of an inferior system which the regime dished up as education.
* WRONG spelling of street names is a deliberate attempt to undermine the city, its residents, people and elected authorities. They should rectify their error(s) immediately.
Running The Show
* I HEARD our Prime Minister Nahas Angula during those budget meetings saying that Namibia is the only country in world that spends so much on education. That could be true, I just hope that our PM also knows that Namibia is the only country in world where more than half of the pupils fail Grade 10 and Grade 12. Namibia is the only country is the world that gets so little return on investment in terms of money spend on education. After many years as minister of education and now prime minister, Mr Angula still does not get it! It’s not money that will solve our problems in education, no. The whole system needs a major revamp and not more money being thrown here and there while kids are taught in tents in Windhoek.
* MINISTER Kawana I agree with you on the SME funding by DBN. In fact why outsource it to commercial banks? MPs take note that it does not help the small entrepreneur. I believe the DBN has an obligation to ensure that the implementation of such processes are going to help the poor not the audit books of DBN to look good. The defence by the deputy minister of finance is not only off target but irrelevant. He better analyse what Kawana said.
Children Of The Struggle
* WHAT these children born in exile did was an act of terrorism. They were holding hostage the sovereignty of the state by demanding ransom of employment. This is treason of the highest order. Not only is their conduct sending a wrong precedent but it must be prosecutable as far as rule of law is concerned.
General
* HOW about naming the extension of Robert Mugabe Avenue, into Kleine Kuppe, Morgan Tsvangirai?
* DEAR editor. I’d like to know how and where I can get a barcode number for my product. Thank you. – Emmanuel
* I WAS looking for a dedicated website of our party, Swapo, but realised there is none. I am willing to contribute to create a Swapo website so that it serves as an intellectual reference on issues confronting our ruling party. – Mihe Gaomab
Youth
* THE evidence is clear to be seen and experienced, the shortage of educational development and youth services countrywide. The compulsory national youth service seems to offer some success and should be harnessed to build a better future. That is sound advice to Government to stop fuming and fretting. We need to become peaceful, if we are to have power to live effectively. One must always be realistic. – Oshana community voice
* IF compulsory national service was already done when we got our Independence we would have less unemployed youth as they would have owned small businesses and would be putting bread on their table with money generated from skills.
* I THINK there are no genuine reasons for Government to resist compulsory national youth service, or otherwise they must tell the nation why! – TIA, Windhoek
* OUR neighbour Botswana had a system analogous to National Youth Service they called Tirelo Sethaba (if my spelling is right). It was scrapped because most girls deployed as assistant teachers, etc, in remote rural areas just fell pregnant. Before we harp on about NYS we need to look at others’ experiences.
Bouquets And Brickbats
* TO all Okahandja residents let us joint hands and keep the town clean after the job well done by our Municipality. To the workers and their supervisors we thank you. Keep on doing the right thing. We salute you.
* I DO not agree with the SMS under, Food For Thought, of Tuesday May 5, because (Health Minister Dr Richard) Kamwi is without doubt one of the few truly hardworking ministers. He may only lack committed support from his immediate colleagues.
* UGLY Creatures what happened? We want more. We want to hear from you guys again very soon. We can’t wait guys. When are you going to release the CDs? – Eighties
* I AM disturbed by the NBC-TV culture programme. They show one group several times as if the others do not exist. I think someone is trying to annoy the other viewers.
* WHY is it that we haven’t had the national broadcasting television company at Outapi for over two weeks now? NBC please be serious, and come back to Outapi! – Mr Shark
* IS the NBC the only platform available for political parties’ election campaigns, especially Swapo Party? Take note that it is indeed a national broadcasting and not a Swapo house! We taxpayers feel very hard done by when things are not used correctly or fairly!
* IS it NBC or SBC for Swapo broadcasting company? No wonder the booting of innocent ex-workers!
* MRS Emily at Bennies Entertainment Park in Ongwediva, thank you for your highly professional and friendly service that you offered to us during our stay. I hope your boss sees that in you because the park needs more people like you. Thank you and God bless you.
Service Please
* PLEASE Minister of Justice, can you show some respect to all our mothers who receive maintenance at Katutura Court. Can you arrange three payout clerks and one only receiving all payments. The queue goes up to the main entrance door. Please avoid these and use another means to give them the dignity and respect they deserve. Please.
* HOW many more ADSL clients of Telecom Namibia are off-line every month between the 25th and 30/31st? People cannot complain about service as there is no such word in the Telecom dictionary anymore. All that is important is that accounts should be paid on time or a client’s lines are blocked. Would the MD of Telecom Namibia care enough to re-instate the word service into their dictionary?
* MOOLA Mobile, I just can’t understand your promotion. I used to SMS win to 949 but after that you don’t text me back. I am not even told the winner of the day.
* OK Furnishers Walvis Bay charged me N$300 to deliver a bed a distance less than 1 km, which is in town. How do they justify that?
* IS South Africa not looking for non-South African volunteers for the 2010 World Cup? The world cup will never come to us. SA allow us to experience it. Can the NFA and the SA High Commissioner find out for us? We are very interested.
Education
* ARE the Inspectors of Education aware that most school principals do not stay in schools during official working hours? Or do they (principals) have a special privilege to be absent from work? By the way, who is monitoring their absenteeism? There seems to be a weakness, especially when it comes to the way the principals’ absenteeism is monitored. They are taking too much advantage of their positions to attend to their own business, leaving schools in the hands of teachers. These principals must know that we are watching them. They know themselves, especially here in Ohangwena Circuit. – Worried
* WHY does IOL not post material through NamPost?
* POLYTECH has made maths compulsory as required by ETSIP. Unfortunately this is not the case at secondary school. How can one do preculculars if he/she last did maths in Grade 10. We parents are paying $10 000 a year for our kids who will never complete their studies because of maths. Please respond on this. – Concerned Parent
* TO the Direct of Education, Omusati why no HOD for agriculture and life science? Please answer.
* NAMCOL is taking tutors that they are hiring to give tutorials to Grade 10 and Grade 12 learners for granted. First they are paying us very little, secondly, according to the contract we signed, we are supposed to be paid at the end of the second month of tutorials. But we find ourselves going up to the 6th day of the next month without our remuneration and they are not even informing us where the problem is. Namcol management should do something with immediate effect.
ACC Alert
* CAN ACC please investigate why the Erongo Regional Council are not notifying successful candidates as were recommended by the panel?
In And From The Regions
* COULD the Village Council of Gibeon please do something about the roads of the village.
* OSHAKATI Town Council. It is very dark at night at Oshakati West. Install tall and strong street lights like at Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay. Allocate street names and start now keeping the town clean and advertise vacant positions in newspapers to get qualified people. Otherwise, we will conclude that you are giving employment to your immediate associates. Thanks. – Hazap
* PLEASE do something Ministry of Health and Social Service at Kalkrand Clinic. Something serious could happen there when a certain person is on duty. The public have demonstrated but nothing happened. The Council is useless.
* LONG queues at the Oshakati Natis office are a disaster. One has to spend weeks waiting to get help. They must build more offices and also employ more people!
Health Matters
* MINISTER (Richard) Kamwi we need an answer from you. Why are we retired nurses in the North given only a two-year contract when it was agreed to be five and not two. Yet you are calling all retired nurses to re apply but when they do they are treated like animals. Please investigate or ACC should on your behalf.
