* HORRIBLE the article about the dog! Could people not find him after four days of barking?

 Food For Thought
 * IT’S a downright shame to see that one of the least densely populated countries, with such generous amounts of natural resources and a flourishing tourism industry, has so many people living below the breadline. Shame on the leadership.

Food For Thought
* IT’S a downright shame to see that one of the least densely populated countries, with such generous amounts of natural resources and a flourishing tourism industry, has so many people living below the breadline. Shame on the leadership. This is an embarrassing statistic.
* THE Anti-Corruption Commission and MTC must work together to create a MMS line as it is another effective way to combat corruption, where we can send picture and video of incidents which we may encounter from our mobile phones. If there is such a service, then provide us with the number and make everyone aware of such services.

Bouquets And Brickbats
* HI Ugly Creatures. Welcome back to the music arena. Just a positive criticism. Please get Jomo back on the drums. It’s sad that ou Jeff is no more, but what about getting a natural bass guitarist. Surely you lack in the two departments. The coordination of bass and the drums. Baby how could you miss-start Erere. Once again welcome back guys, you have it! Joni pull up man, you can do it.
* WE must sometimes give credit where it is due. Thank you GRN we got our increment. – Jafet and Sande
* I GUESS all residents of Namibia, who can afford to buy a newspaper, read it like some of us. Now why do you only publish SMSes sent by Namibians? It is not fair Ms Editor. – We have no way of knowing where SMSes are sent from when making a selection for publication. All contributions are most welcome. – Newsdesk
* THERE is no proverb like the one you publish in your paper today. Are you making it up? – No, we don’t make anything up. They come from collections on the Internet or published in books. – Newsdesk
* IT seems that your paper is not interested in publicising SMSes that expose nepotism and favouritism in Government. Why? – Of course we are! But if one simply makes unsubstantiated allegations, it is problematic because of laws on libel and defamation. We would suggest, therefore, if you have concrete evidence of nepotism, etc, that you contact our editorial desk so that we can check these out. – Editor

Anniversary Messages
* THANKS our Swapo Party for 49 years and still ruling.
* VIVA Swapo, happy birthday! Long live Swapo and its comrades. We’re happy. We appreciate and love you Swapo Party! – Jovitha CTM, Ongwediva

Politics
* TO anyone in the know, is the Deputy Prime Minister (Libertina Amathila) a cabinet member? I really wish she was. – She is indeed. – Newsdesk
* (MINISTER Jerry) Ekandjo please leave our ACC alone. ACC is not a Swapo entity but it’s a Government entity. Viva democracy.
* I COMPLETELY agree with (Justice) Minister Ithana. The ACC chief is just too much in the media, he seems to like the limelight. He is supposed to be a rare species, commenting once in while on cases that are of high public interest or cases uncovered by the media. One wonders when two or three media institutions carry the same story, it suggests that they have been informed by the ACC itself.
* AT long last Parliament has pinpointed the problem of the ACC. But it’s not only the ACC who is guilty, ministers, permanent secretaries and board members have been doing the same to CEOs for years. Many have gone through the same ordeal. Apply your minds to matters!
* THE ACC is doing the right thing by publicising it’s investigations. Just because a case is publicised it does not mean that a person has been found guilty. It seems that some in Government are suddenly becoming afraid of transparency and accountability. Who’s hiding what?
* THE timing by a certain intellectual political grasshopper is suspicious, to say the least. It is the election year and our learned friend hopes to get a seat in the next Swapo ranks in Parliament. Clever guy. – Suspicious veteran, Rosh Pinah
* PROFESSOR Kerina’s ‘rejoining’ of Swapo puzzles me.
* NEVER compare the ANC and Swapo Party, never ever.

Election Fever
* PLEASE allow me to raise my view. I have a concern about some number plates. They say ‘Swapo the party we trust’. It is designed in the party colours. My question goes to NamPol/ Traffic Department. Is it allowed to use any number plate on a car? Or what will happen if all the parties design their own number plates? – Uzuni Kapiru Ndama, Rundu
* PLEASE Director of Elections, seriously look into the plight of your voter education officers. They are working under terrible conditions with little pay and no benefits. And also being on contract does not mean they have to be treated with a bad attitude from permanent ECN staff.

General
* ARE abnormal vehicles allowed on Namibian roads during weekends? It is unbelievable how many lorries are on the road!
* PLEASE NBC, you must invite Mr Kanime from the City Police to your studio. We have many questions to ask him.
* WHEN are we ever going to taste the kind of cheap prices and instalments like R499 for the first 12 months for a small, city car! Wow! Namibia wake up!
* THE economic exploitation in Namibia is absolutely disgusting as the property market and the vehicle markets are priced way beyond their value, which makes us 30-60% more expensive compared to the South African markets! Even second-hand car prices leave too much to be desired!

Children Of The Struggle
* THE Swapo-led Government must not just look at struggle kids. Our sister here completed Grade 12 but there are no jobs. The NDF is (allegedly) just recruiting their family members. WE are not going to vote unless our sisters and brothers are given jobs as well. Struggle kids must just work hard like ordinary citizens.
* SO-CALLED ‘Kids born in exile’ for your own good please go back to school or improve your marks. Wake up from your sleep, this is new independent Namibia, you can only get a good job on merit. Refugee camps were only in exile. Please open your eyes and see reality. The same other ‘Swapo kids’ are already doctors, engineers and professionals. Are you telling me their identities were not written born in Angola or what. Your future is determined by your choice today. To Swapo, please put those kids in school and give them national documents. They must stop getting babies, protesting and camping and start studying. This is crucial time, we need innovative minds around here. No spoon-feeding.
* HOW many of these struggle kids were refused entry to schools, the GRN before considering anything. First they must check records of these kids. When I look at that group the majority seems to be late twenties. I am 30. I started my Grade 1 in 1990. I still managed a B-Tech in civil engineering. Now tell me what stops these people from achieving this?
* FOR some of us, we made the wrong decision the day we registered. Maybe because we weren’t aware of what the thing is all about. I want to ask if there is something to be done to correct our mistakes. Because we find ourselves registering for a job, while we are currently going for school, instead asking for financial assistance.

Labour Issues
* WHAT do employees at lodges benefit from tourism? All Namibians working in private lodges still suffer from low salaries with no public holidays, Christmas, New Year while owners and the state benefit from money they generate from tourists. No unions represent employees in lodges. The Minister of Tourism only knows the parks and NWR while fellow young Namibians trying to work hard in tourism becomes slaves. Security companies are now better than lodges. Is tourism important in Namibia? – Concerned employee.

In And From the Regions
* THE road from Okahandja to Karibib is being tarred because of potholes. Do you have an idea how quickly the road between Karibib and Omaruru is deteriorating? The best for the car and the tyres is to drive in the middle of the road. Go and see for yourself! The road from Omaruru to Kalkfeld is even worse. It has become a lot worse since we drove there last in January. One can’t believe that the condition changed so much in only three months!
* N4435T please be realistic, how can you pay your workers on Sam Nujoma Drive in Tsumeb. Did you forget about the criminals?
* CAN we again have the Ministry of Finance in Ohangwena and Omusati region because Oshakati is too far.
* WHY is it that very few people from the Karas Region get bursaries? Even those that do well don’t get them. Poverty is not just in the north.

Sporting
n THE Namibian Newspaper Cup has been played for many years now and I believe that the parties involved could have taken stock long ago not to encounter age cheating, bending of rules, etc. Does the Namibia Football Association (NFA) have all the records of the players to look at the ages, and for record keeping? The regional selectors and the parents partly are to be blamed partly because the games are there for under-20 development not to win as such although one team has to be the victor. – Soccer lover
* NO one talks about our Premier League, things are heating up pretty much in our own league, but the main question is, who will win the elite title? Stars seems to be losing valuable points at times, while teams like SKW and the triple league champs Civics are hot on form, interesting though as who will survive the drop at the other end of the table.

Service Please
* I INVITE The Namibian Newspaper team or Informanté to come and see and take pictures of the long queues and empty counters at Home Affairs in the morning.
* IGNORANT or stubborn, or I don’t know what else one can say about employees of Home Affairs after so many bad things had been said about the Ministry’s service. One is supposed to come to work earlier and prepare. They come at 08h00 and prepare at least for 20 minutes while we wait and of course their attitude is bad. What happened to workers being charged for misconduct or is only meant for workers defined otherwise?
* MTC we are proud of your network coverage to all parts of Namibia. Please MTC, are you aware that there is no coverage in Namibia out at sea? The network only has coverage at 26 and 27 degrees. Please MTC Namibian seamen need your service.
