* State House costs HOPE the Government will spend that money on its people and not on buildings.

There are kids on streets and families living in plastic shelters. ALL that money being spent on a State House but no money is available to upgrade State hospitals? YOUR Excellency, the President, can’t you put the construction of the State House on hold. This money can be used on other priority projects such as renovating and equipping State hospitals and clinics.* Health woes THERE seems to be no money when it comes to services that benefit the public. But when it benefits a few politicians, then there is always money.IT’S time for our Government to do away with dead wood.’Jobs for comrades’ is not working in a free Namibia.Health facilities should be run by people who did health service management.People with qualifications are in the Ministry but they’re ignored.Doctors are just doctors, and not administrators. It’s really embarrassing for a referral hospital to be in such a state.HOSPITAL conditions permanent as in ps? The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health has all the time and energy to secure himself a most expensive flight seat at whatever cost simply because his employment conditions say so.What about the constitutional rights of poor people whose suffering has caused the luxury things like first class ticket? Well, may be in a few years to come the hon ps will not need to worry about the flight status as all low class people will be dead anyway.Has anyone up there ever thought of a Conditional Secretary for a change? – Alina CONDITIONS at State hospitals are a disgrace and pose a serious health risk. The only solution – fire the Minister, Deputy Minister and Permanent Secretary now or, according to Swapo policy, promote them. But please get rid of them.THE issue with the conditions of State Hospitals comes a long way.It has become so bad that patients with chronic renal failure are left to DIE because the scarce resources are for relatives of Government Ministers. As matter of fact NONE of the Ministers themselves make use of these facilities because they are substandard!! THE State hospital saga is a vote of no confidence in the Swapo Government.GRN Hospitals are in a mess.Who suffers? The majority poor, while the few fat cats go to PRIVATE HOSPITALS.THE Katutura clinic is chaotic: two doctors, three nurses, 200 patients. What more? SURE, power failures do happen but has Dr Nkandi-Shiimi or Kamwi for that matter never heard of generators? Why is it that services deteriorate when Africans take over? And it’s not only Namibia (which is faring better than the majority) all African countries. It’s frustrating because it gives ammo to our detractors.- Norah THE management at State hospitals should hire an independent cleaning company to get out of the filthy mess they’re in.PLEASE, Please, Please, our dear President Pohamba, hear our plight before our Ministry of Health collapses.Reshuffle all.- Concerned nurses WINDHOEK Central Hospital is a referral hospital. It should set an example for others, but hell no, cockroaches are all over. Are there still health inspectors? – Worried nurse WHAT goes around, comes around, no matter how long it takes. This happens when you give your friends the maintenance tenders and they don’t service and test the equipment, but put in false claims that have to be paid out because somebody is waiting for his share.WHY not ask the supplier to come up with spare parts. That (broken theatre) bed (at Windhoek Central Hospital) is still new.I THINK it is the right thing they are doing to get to the bottom of the problem so that it will not happen to the other people again.People had had these problems with hospital and no one acts.THE executives in the Ministry of Health and Social Services must be held accountable for the mess in which the state health facilities are.PLEASE take action. They are reckless – we lost our baby girl.NO wonder a newborn baby died. How many lives have we lost in such conditions? No money to buy new equipment to save innocent lives.IT comes as no surprise when a doctor downs his scalpel over hospital chaos given the fact that nurses have previously voiced their concerns over the issue! Crime and punishment WHY should murderers get bail. The guy (suspect) who shot his dad and the Dorado murderers (suspects), why should they get bail or their cases postponed. My point is lock them up and let them feel.IT is very hurtful to see someone who owes your loved one’s life walking freely in the street, or given bail of only N$1 000.Think of the Creator, please.THINK our Government must build something similar to Robben Island, where all these murderers can be locked up.They don’t belong in the midst of society. This place must be somewhere in desert where no one will be able to visit them 15 YEARS for stealing three head of cattle! That’s what Hamutenya got and on the other hand, the seven suspected murderers, who killed the guy in Dorado Park all were given bail! They will most probably get no more than seven years in jail!!! Our judicial system sucks! I wonder once the B1 Butcher is caught, how long it will take before bail is granted. What’s happening to our country!!! LAWMAKERS will not implement the Death Penalty because their lives are not at risk – they are well protected. It’s painful losing a loved one and to see suspects get N$1 000 bail. Why not starve them to death in jail? Change the law please. We will not take excuses from the Government any longer.DEATH PENALTY now!!! I WILL kill today and get bail of N$1 000.But my brother was sentenced to 15 years in jail for the theft of four head of cattle, because human life is cheaper than that of animals. Can the Magistrate’s Court do something about this discrepancy.THUMBS down to our justice system.Bail of N$1 000 for murder, N$5 000 for stock theft.May be it’s time for cattle rustlers to consider a change of ‘career’.* Labour law and workplaceI DON’T agree that they (labour hire companies) should be banned.I suggest that they just be improved (rules, regulations).Unemployment will be high.Labour hire has really helped some of us.Please reconsider.THANK you Minister Naruseb, a job well done! The Labour Act is very much needed in its entirety.THE time is ripe to set labourers free! I will appreciate it if you grant me space in your favourite daily newspaper to share my views with the public.AFRICAN countries must enforce medical funds and pension funds among individual employers. Some of us are working in dangerous areas, which contain chemicals, especially those called labourers. If a person gets sick, he or she can lose their jobs.We are the economies of Africa, so save us.LABOUR Hire: Are the security tenders by GRN not employment of a third party? Please, I need an answer.- Gotty * Renaming streetsI THINK President Pohamba’s proposal (to decline having a street named after himself) is good, and I propose that it is named State House Avenue or State House Street.IT shows the unselfishness of our current president.Viva Mr President! DO we really need to name and rename streets. How much is it costing us? Can this money not be used to lighten the burden of our City of Windhoek accounts.HOW many maps have to be reprinted to change a few street names and where will it stop? I think they shouldn’t stop there, they should change the names of all streets to cabinet members, maybe change the names of towns too! Oshakati could be called Pohamba, but why stop there? Namibia can be called Nuyoma.Maybe we should inform SA that we will just refer to it as Thabo! It’s a waste of time and money.PRESIDENT Pohamba is in a class of his own and has demonstrated that he is a selfless leader by not accepting the City Council’s proposal but instead proposing a street named for all past and current Presidents.- Lazi * TransNamib woesTRANSNAMIB’S timetables are very precise. If it says the train will arrive in Windhoek at 12.35, then it will arrive at 12.35 – give or take a few hours! TRANSNAMIB, what is going on in your house? Community THE Omusati educational finance personnel officials are incompetent and are not doing thei
r job properly.MY concern is about the Okahandja local authority. The town is dirty, while there are people employed to do cleaning and municipal cars are also misused.Officials have no time to attend to the grievances of the community.DOES the Minister of Education know of the existence of schools such as Dibasen and Martin Luther High School? I have not seen or heard of them them visiting or mentioning about these two schools or even sending a donation to those schools.A visit would not be harmful .ALL that money being spent on a State House but no money is available to upgrade State hospitals?
