Produced by Damara Dik Ding himself, in collaboration with Prolifik Artikle, ‘Honeymoon’ is yet another single off the ‘Damalokie’ album. Keeping to a clearly cohesive theme that runs through all the singles he’s dropped so far, the song is a modern day love jam that keeps to the singer’s signature sound. The tunes are refreshing, with a live instrumental keeping the sound authentic.
What do you get when you put Namibia’s finest gospel stars in studio together? A powerful gospel song that’s right up there with the best collaborations Namibia has seen in recent years. Bhuquaid opens up with the first verse, in his hair-raising voice. Others who feature on the track are D-Naff, Levite, Effy, Lady Dyna, Maranatha Goroh, Franklin, Dee’A, Pride, Alex Shiwayu, Justin Lomame and Tony the Poet. All the artists seamlessly carry the song from beginning to end, with the result being a deeply inspiring track of praise and worship. Namibian gospel music has been on a continuous rise and the level of talent and unity evident in this song is a sure sign of that.
If you miss the ‘Komuthima Gwomeya’ Blossom, before all the controversy she has found herself in on numerous occasions, listen to her latest offering. ‘Tate Yetu’, which translates to ‘Our Father’, is a beautiful, spiritual song with lyrics that are an adaptation of the Lord’s prayer in Oshiwambo. With her voice as golden as ever, the songstress is breathtaking on the song which shows that she’s still got the range vocally. It’s no surprise that the song is being received very well, gaining over 4 000 downloads in just three weeks on namibiamusic.com.
From reality TV contestant to entrepreneur and now singer. Dillish Mathews always manages to show different layers to her personality. She teams up with Ogoba Butterfly, Zambian rap sensation Cleo Ice Queen and her friend Maria Nepembe (director) on her first ever music video for her single, ‘Lights’. While the song itself takes some getting used to, with vocals that are not anything to write home about, the video is worth a watch. You’ll spot most of the gorgeous women in her circle – from the ever-so-stylish Nangula Nanyemba to Odile Gertze and Tjuna Kauapirurua as the pregnant woman who got her groove back. The video is being received quite well and currently has over 52 000 views on YouTube after being published on 2 May.
Launched at The Confab restaurant last weekend, the ‘Net So’ music video has lived up to the hype that preceded its release. Shot by Eric Mule, the video sees Sally Boss Madam singing in the vibrant streets of Katutura. Alongside her dancers, Sally sports short shorts with a drink in hand and shows off some of the latest dance styles including the popular gwarra gwarra.
