AN all-night Police investigation on Tuesday led to the arrest of six men in connection with a robbery earlier that day at Standard Bank’s Gobabis branch.
Standard Bank’s Head of Marketing, Carin De Klerk, said this yesterday, adding that an unspecified sum of money had also been recovered. More detailed information was not available at the time of going to press.”The Police worked tirelessly throughout the night and could arrest all robbers that were involved in yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) Gobabis robbery. They are of foreign nationality,” De Klerk stated.Sources at the bank on Tuesday morning said that they had seen three suspects enter the bank just before 09h00, while a fourth suspect was apparently waiting in a Nissan Navaro parked outside the bank. The first suspect was arrested with the alleged getaway car at Buitepos on the border with Botswana within two hours of the robbery.Although the bank on Tuesday promised to release more information about the reward it had offered, De Klerk said discussions with the Police on this still had to be finalised.”Standard Bank would like to thank the Police wholeheartedly for their hard work and perseverance,” she said.More detailed information was not available at the time of going to press.”The Police worked tirelessly throughout the night and could arrest all robbers that were involved in yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) Gobabis robbery. They are of foreign nationality,” De Klerk stated.Sources at the bank on Tuesday morning said that they had seen three suspects enter the bank just before 09h00, while a fourth suspect was apparently waiting in a Nissan Navaro parked outside the bank. The first suspect was arrested with the alleged getaway car at Buitepos on the border with Botswana within two hours of the robbery.Although the bank on Tuesday promised to release more information about the reward it had offered, De Klerk said discussions with the Police on this still had to be finalised.”Standard Bank would like to thank the Police wholeheartedly for their hard work and perseverance,” she said.
