NAMIBIA’S former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) middleweight champion Harry Simon is currently in London, United Kingdom (UK) for a possible return to boxing.
According to the SuperSport web site yesterday, Simon has been training at the Peacock Gym in London for his comeback to the ring.The unbeaten 36-year-old’s career was interrupted by a prison sentence, resulting from a fatal car crash. He was released early this year.Simon retained his WBO belt when he out-pointed Armand Krajnc in Copenhagen in April 2002, but returned to action only in March 2007 when he beat Stephen Nzuemba over eight rounds in and exhibition bout Windhoek.Simon, who has a record of 24-0, with 17 knockouts, is trained by Babatunde Ajayi, and hopes to join boxing promoter Frank Warren.Whether he can regain the form and fitness that made him a hero in Namibia, remains to be seen.
