Eeshoke Chula Chula head coach John Sikerete will be assisted by Young African’s Marley Ngarizemo when they take charge of the senior national men’s football team, the Brave Warriors, for their upcoming international friendly matches against Comoros.

Namibia will face Comoros in two International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) international friendly fixtures scheduled for 14 and 17 November in Moroni, Comoros.

In a statement issued by the Namibia Football Association (NFA), Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin confirms that a 32-man preliminary squad has been selected for the encounters.

“The Warriors will be coached by Sikerete, with Ngarizemo serving as his assistant. Sikerete has done exceptionally well with Chula Chula since the team joined the Namibia Football Premier League (NFPL).

“He also coached the African Nations Championship (Chan) team during the qualifiers, and we believe he is more than capable of taking on this task once again for the friendlies,” he says.

The Brave Warriors head coach says Ngarizemo is doing an amazing job with Gobabis-based Young African.

“Since Young African entered the NPFL, they won the FA Cup in their debut season and recently represented Namibia in the CAF Confederation Cup. These are the kinds of coaches we want to nurture within our national setup,” he says.

Benjamin further says the selection of locally based players was done in consultation with both Sikerete and Ngarizemo.

“The Warriors will compete in the Chan qualifiers next year, so it is important that we start preparing a team capable of performing at that level. Together, we assessed the players currently active in the league, and this is the group we agreed on,” he says.

Benjamin will not be available for the friendly matches as he is scheduled to attend a coaching workshop in South Africa during that period.

The selected players are expected to report for training at 08h00 on Monday at the NFA Technical Centre.
