The case involving the shooting of Ondangwa regional prosecutor Justine Shiweda has turned into murder following her death on Saturday.
Oshana police commander Naftal Sakaria confirmed the prosecutor’s death on Saturday.
“Yes, I can confirm. She passed on this morning in Windhoek,” Sakaria said.
The prosecutor has been in hospital since she was shot at Ondangwa on 17 October 2025. The accused allegedly also threw acid at her.
Sakaria said he will be in touch with the current prosecutor as the case is likely to turn from attempted murder into a case of murder by law.
Sakaria told journalists at a press conference at Oshakati last year that Shiweda was shot and attacked with a corrosive concoction while she and her children were about to leave their house.
The police further state that the corrosive substance severely damaged her kidneys and liver and that she underwent multiple surgeries.
