Shamvura Response to Mutorwa

Shamvura Response to Mutorwa

“Mutorwa wants answers” Shamvura Camp responds: Shamvura Camp highly appreciates Minister John Mutorwa’s call for answers and the truth into the recent death of Christof Weka on the Okavango River.

We also appreciate his statement that it is highly insensitive and provocative to speculate about Weka’s death at this stage. Unfortunately certain elements within the Shamvura community do not agree with his wisdom and hence the recent demonstration which has forced Shamvura Camp to instigate legal proceedings. We wholeheartedly endorse the pursuit of truth through Police investigation, in fact the Police have had all our co-operation including witness statements, dated and time photographic evidence, of events on the day the Councillors firearm and Weka’s belongings were discovered and free use of Shamvura Camp boats made available to the police as a priority even if this entailed postponing guest activities at the time.According to police feedback, up to now they seem quite satisfied that Mark Paxton is not a suspect according to the numerous conversations with several of the investigating officers.Shamvura Camp will be seek public apologies from those individuals within the area who have been responsible for the misinformation and victimisation of Mark Paxton once the truth is exposed regarding Weka’s death.Mark Paxton acted like any responsible Namibian citizen should, by securing the abandoned firearm on the Angolan border and immediately turning it over to the Police. It would have been exceedingly negligent to leave any functional weapon which had been unattended for at least 45minutes, surely it is not expected to just leave it on the sandbank in a vulnerable situation? What question should be asked is what was a shotgun (No.03029553) apparently registered to a Regional Councillor in the Kavango Region doing abandoned some kilometres from his home allegedly in the care of the late Christof Weka? Should Minister Mutorwa want any specific information directly from Mark Paxton regarding this unfortunate situation he is most welcome to meet with him face to face at Shamvura Camp.Charlie Paxton, ShamvuraUnfortunately certain elements within the Shamvura community do not agree with his wisdom and hence the recent demonstration which has forced Shamvura Camp to instigate legal proceedings.
