Namibia and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has suffered a serious injury in training and has since undergone a successful operation.

The setback ruled him out of Sundonws’ 3-1 CAF Champions League opening match against Democratic Republic of Congo outfit Saint-Éloi Lupopo FC.

The 32-year-old sharpshooter has featured in 15 matches this season across all competitions. Nine of those appearances came in the 2025/26 Betway South African Premiership, while the remaining six were in cup competitions.

Shalulile has scored five goals so far this campaign – three in the league and two in the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds against Nigerian side Remo Stars FC.

In recent years, Shalulile has endured a difficult run with injuries, having suffered a hernia injury in 2022, a hamstring injury in 2023 and an ankle injury in 2024.

He is expected to be sidelined for a couple of months following his latest surgery. In a show of solidarity, Sundowns players celebrated Marcelo Allende’s third goal with Shalulile’s trademark Springbok and sniper celebration, dedicating the moment to their injured teammate.

Meanwhile in Zimbabwe, Moses Shidolo’s Scotland FC were officially crowned the 2025 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions following a 2-1 victory over TelOne at Ascot Stadium in Gweru in their final match of the season.

They become the first team since Black Rhinos in 1984 to win the Zimbabwean championship in their debut season. Shidolo also made history, becoming the first Namibian player to win the Zimbabwe Premier League title.

Namibian striker Isaskar Gurirab (28) ended his debut Zimbabwe Premier League season with eight league goals for Simba Bhora FC, who finished third on 62 points narrowly missing out on a CAF Confederation Cup spot to MWOS F, who also finished on 63 points.

Gurirab rediscovered his form after struggling for several years since his breakout 2019 season, when he scored 22 goals in 24 matches and won the MTC Namibia Premier League player of the season award at just 21.

His strong performances in Zimbabwe also earned him a national team call-up from coach Collin Benjamin during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers

In South Africa, Joslin Kamatuka came on as a second-half substitute in Durban City FC’s 0-0 draw with Richards Bay FC in their 13th Betway Premiership match of the season. Durban City currently sit 13th on the log.

Namibian duo Riaan Hanamub and Elmo Kambindu both started in Amazulu FC’s 2-0 win over Siwelele FC. Kambindu got his first league start in over seven months and completed the full match, rewarded by coach Arthur Zwane for scoring during their last game during the international break against Njampela FC.

Amazulu sit fifth in the Betway Premiership after 12 games.

Elsewhere, Ndisiro Kamaijanda and Ngero Katua both started for Highbury FC in their 2-0 defeat to Milford FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship (NFD). Highbury are currently fourth on the log with 12 points.

In Asia, Petrus Shitembi helped Kuching City FC secure derby bragging rights with a 1-0 win over rivals Brunei DPMM FC. The Namibian midfielder remains an ever-present figure in the squad, playing every match as Kuching City rise to second place on 20 points after nine games.

In Botswana, Namibian players Dynamo Fredricks (Jwaneng Galaxy FC) and Marius Kotze (Sau Flamengo FC) faced off in the Botswana Premier League.

Jwaneng Galaxy suffered their first defeat of the season, ending their 10-match unbeaten run with a 3-2 loss to fifth-placed Sau Flamingoes FC.

Jwaneng remain second.

Finally, Marcel Papama’s Township Rollers FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Police XI FC, with the Namibian midfielder playing the full match.
