Seven up for Black Africa

Black Africa made an emphatic start to the MTC NFA Cup when they thumped Diamond City 7-2 at Mariental on Saturday.

Captain Lolo Goraseb opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the ninth minute after a Diamond City defender handled in the box, but barely two minutes later, the Luederitz-based team equalised through striker Johannes Leonard. Black Africa regained the lead when Eric Aoseb rose high to head Tjono Jagger’s corner home, and Tjono Jagger made it 3-1 when he intercepted a pass and sprinted clear to shoot home.With BA’s young midfielder Berries Rooi in fine form, they stepped up the tempo after the break.Rooi himself made it 4-1 in the 60th minute and two minutes later defender Moses Katjiteo got onto the score sheet.Defender Sydney Bloedstaan pulled a goal back for Diamond City in the 70th minute, but further goals by Tjono Jagger and Gadaffi Gariseb gave Black Africa a resounding win.HALENKE THE HERO IN SKW VICTORY Cymot SKW’s reserve goalkeeper Rainer Halenke was the hero in their 3-1 win against Friends.Friends did most of the early attacking, with Edmundo Rooi and Gerson Uirab providing dangerous crosses from the wings, but Halenke cut out the crosses with some fearless dives.Just before the break, SKW opened the scoring against the run of play when Marco van Wyk dropped his marker to slide the ball past an onrushing Claudius Gundunza.SKW striker Frans van Wyk grabbed two quick goals from long crosses after the break as the ball swirled around in windy conditions.Friends attacked relentlessly and finally opened their account when Immanuel Kooper dropped his marker Roger Henckert and beat Halenke from close range.With the minutes ticking away, Friends piled on the pressure but they couldn’t find a way past Halenke.He pulled off a point-blank save from a Ricardo Markus header, and in the final five minutes once again denied Markus, Kooper and Hans Witbooi with some courageous saves.SEIBEB BRACE PUTS STARS THROUGH Johannes Seibeb was in great form for African Stars who had to come from behind to beat Young Eleven 2-1.Seibeb hit the crossbar in the third minute, but Young Eleven opened the scoring against the run of play through Alusie Seibeb in the 26th minute.Johannes Seibeb finally opened Stars’ account when he received the ball from the second half kick-off, outpaced the defence and hit the back of the net.Seibeb then put Stars ahead in the 74th minute with a perfectly timed header from a Seven Endjala’s cross, that flew into the net.The match deteriorated with foul play on both sides and in the 79th minute, Stanley Somaeb received a yellow card for a dangerous tackle.DEPORTIVO BEAT ROLLERS Deportivo Alaves came from behind to beat Desert Rollers 4-2.Rollers from Gobabis had the better of the first half and opened the scoring when Godlob Katiko was put clear and calmly put the ball in the net.Deportivo opened their account through George Goagoseb in the 42nd minute, and a minute later Deportivo took the lead when Hendrik Swartbooi received a defence-splitting pass and sidestepped Adolf Hausiku to score.Witbooi hit the post in the 58th minute, but two minutes later Zuma Kaviromba blasted in the equaliser for Rollers.But that was the end for Rollers as Deportivo took control of the game and two more goals by Deon Skrwyer and
