The Security Association of Namibia (SAN) and the Namibia Security Labour Forum on Thursday signed a resolution for a wage order with the Namibian government.
SAN president Dhiginina Uutaapama, speaking at the briefing on Friday, said the new wage order entails an increase from N$8.75 to N$13.50.
The new wage order is set to come into effect on 1 January 2025.
Uutaapama noted that the new wage order is aimed at revising minimum wages, improving working conditions and ensuring clear compliance mechanisms.
“Revised minimum wages ensure fair remuneration that aligns with the cost of living and respects the vital role of security officers in safeguarding our communities.”
Uutaapama called on employers, employees, the government and industry leaders to work together collectively to achieve this goal.
“The success of this wage order relies on collective effort, and industry leaders must work together to honour these commitments,” he said
