Security association confirms wage increase, seeks compliance

The Namibia Security Labour Forum (NSLF) and the Security Association of Namibia (SAN) have confirmed a wage increase for security guards, as gazetted by the government on Thursday.

This follows the signing of a wages order agreement between SAN and the government in December.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, SAN president Dhiginina Uutaapama announced a new wage of N$13.50 per hour, effective 1 January.

“A phased implementation of the national minimum wage has been approved as follows: 2025: N$13.50 per hour, 2026: N$16 per hour, and 2027: N$18 per hour. This phased approach reflects the government’s commitment to balancing the interests of workers who deserve fair compensation,” Uutaapama said.

He urged stakeholders to comply with the amended wage order and ensure its effective implementation.

“We believe this is a step forward in fostering a more equitable and stable working environment for security personnel across the country. The NSLF remains committed to continued dialogue, collaboration and advocacy to address the challenges faced by the security industry,” he added.
