Preperations are in full swing for the fourth edition of the Seafood Festival on 9 and 10 May at the Olympia Swimming Pool in Windhoek.
The festival is organised by Connect People to People in partnership with Seawork Fish Processors and Bank Windhoek.
Organisers say this year’s event, which will raise money for charity, will feature delicious seafood, live entertainment and family-friendly entertainment.
One of the organisers, Dave Hammond, says visitors can expect the same quality the festival has become known for.
“We have renovated all of our key attractions to give an even greater experience. The festival will feature live performances from 10 local and one international act, a bigger cooking demo area with more chefs, more laughter, new recipes and an improved kids’ entertainment area with a train making its festival debut,” Hammond says.
Hammond says the festival also provides a platform for local entrepreneurs to market and sell their products.
Along with food and entertainment, organisers hope to provide a welcoming atmosphere where attendees from all walks of life can meet and enjoy their weekend. Security and medical staff will also be on-site to ensure a safe festival experience.
“We have something for everyone – interactive challenges and games, live music, a kiddies area specifically, cooking demonstrations and lots of stalls selling a variety of seafood,” Hammond states.
Bank Windhoek says the festival aligns with its goal to be a connector of positive change.
“The festival attracted 1 500 individuals in 2022 for its inaugural event and raised N$43 000 for charity. It has continued to have a significant role to play for charity causes since,” states the bank on its website.
The funds raised during the two-day event will go to the Seawork Cares Trust, which supports various community projects.
With a programme that emphasises community empowerment and an improved entertainment line-up, the 2025 Seafood Festival is one to look forward to.
