School stabbing: teenager in ICU

A 15-YEAR-OLD pupil at the Hermann Gmeiner Technical High School at Swakopmund is lying in the intensive care unit at Windhoek’s Roman Catholic Hospital after being stabbed by a fellow learner on Tuesday.

Enos Menjono was stabbed by a 13-year-old at the Swakopmund municipal swimming pool after school, at about 17h00. “It is really serious and I am just praying,” Enos’s shocked mother, Selma Menjono, told The Namibian yesterday.She said her son was stabbed in the head and that the knife went up to seven centimetres into his head.”He is bleeding inside,” Menjono added.The boy was rushed to Windhoek on Tuesday evening.The school’s principal was attending a meeting and unable to comment, an official at Hermann Gmeiner said yesterday, adding that the principal was very disturbed by the attack.The two pupils allegedly confronted each other during school hours but did not fight.The two then encountered each other at the pool.The boy accused of stabbing Enos has been arrested and was expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court yesterday but that appearance was postponed until today for lack of a magistrate, according to the Swakopmund Police.”It is really serious and I am just praying,” Enos’s shocked mother, Selma Menjono, told The Namibian yesterday.
