Schmidt wins monthly medal competition

Heinco Schmidt was the overall winner of the fourth AB in Bev Monthly Medal competition which took place at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club on Saturday. 

Schmidt had a gross score of 79 and a nett score of 66 to win the competition which was the fourth of eight monthly competitions and saw a total of 68 players in action.

Alfie Ndyenge won the A division with a nett score of 72 after beating Laban Malule on a count-out, while Milton Eiseb came third on 74 after beating Michael Durant on a count-out.

Peter Shikongo won the B division with a nett score of 67, while Andre Visser came second on 71 after beating Jurgen Johannesson on a count-out, while Sponks Mohale won the C division with a nett score of 68, followed by Rewaldo Quest on 69 and Henry Hendricks on 70. 

Chantel Visser won the women’s division with a score of 70, followed by Lucy Mohale on 71 and Sesilia Nkoshi on 72.

The nearest-to-the-pin winners were Brendan Britten on the third hole, Heinco Schmidt on the ninth hole, Paul Grobler on the 13th hole and Corneels Jafta on the 17th hole.

The medal series will be used to determine the medal champion of the year. The competitors qualify for the Tournament of Champions at the end of the year where the best 24 players will be split into two groups of 12 each and compete over 54 holes.

The club will host the Namibian Open next weekend.
