CHIEF Santos and SKW will go into their last matches of the MTC Premiership under immense pressure as both are standing on the verge of being relegated.
To avoid being chopped, each team should simply win their match on the day. Santos face Oshakati City in an away fixture at the Oshakati Independence Stadium, while SKW host Orlando Pirates in an afternoon match in Windhoek.Santos have 17 points from their 21 matches, while SKW have 20 points from the same number of games. The goal difference is minus 13 for Santos and minus 17 for SKW.Santos had a shaky start to the season and their form deteriorated in the first leg of the season.Santos have so far lost 12 games, while SKW have fallen 11 times.Santos if relegated, will follow in the footsteps of former top sides such as Life Fighters, Liverpool, Young Ones and Benfica, while SKW will be one of the few sides to have survived relegation after its entry for the first time this season.Teams such as Touch & Go, Golden Bees and Deportivo Alaves have all gone back to the first division after their first attempt in top-flight football in recent years and are hoping to make a comeback next season.Civics have already won the league and the attention is now on who will join Touch & Go after the weekend.Touch & Go got the chop last weekend.Despite that, the fight for the second spot will continue as Blue Waters will aim to collect maximum points against Eleven Arrows in a coastal derby tomorrow.Blue Waters stand on 39 points in third place, with Ramblers in second with 41 points.Blue Waters are two-time champions of the league and this year kept their consistent form, only to be pipped by Civics and Ramblers who have been serious contenders for the title. In other matches, Civics will be hoping to round off the league on a high note when they visit Touch & Go at the Khoaeb Stadium, a match which would possibly see plenty of goals coming from the formidable Civics strike-force, which now also includes former Ramblers target man Costa Khaiseb. The encounter between Ramblers and Tigers will also be a titanic affair as these two sides are generally rivals, while they also have a similar style of play.Tigers failed to capitalise on grabbing at least the fifth place in the league after they lost 1-0 to Black Africa in an outstanding midweek match on Wednesday.Tigers also had an inconsistent season and they tend to beat better sides than them, but always fail to win against teams that are not as good as them. The team that should be proud of their form is Oshakati City, which currently sits in seventh spot in the league, an improvement from ninth spot last season.Eleven Arrows also did themselves a favour as they worked their way out of the drop zone, and a win over Blue Waters tomorrow will be heir biggest achievement.Santos face
