Samsung Galaxy S6: Tech and Specs

Time to rejoice, Samsung lovers, because the new Samsung Galaxy S6 has been released and it is gorgeous.

With a slim and sexy design that hasn’t diverted from the usual that most people are accustomed to, the Samsung Galaxy S6’s specifications will have you in awe, coming in a range of various colours including black, silver and space grey.

This version uses the nano sim card (which seems to be the norm in smartphones these days) and weighs in at 138g, a little heavier than the iPhone 6. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy S6 comes with a fingerprint sensor, plus its 5.1 inch screen is a pleasure to look at, especially with a super AMOLED capacitative touchscreen.

“Is it updated?” you ask. The answer is yes. Android version 5.0.2 is pre-installed with an additional chipset and Quad-core processor, which basically means that you’re going to be in video and gaming heaven. Don’t be disappointed about the lack of a card slot, because the Galaxy S6’s internal memory ranges from 32 to 128 GB with 3 GB worth of RAM. Your eyes are not deceiving you, it’s really 3GB RAM. For a phone, that’s pretty powerful stuff right there and we assume Samsung is attempting to push the limits to draw in more buyers.

Earlier this week, Samsung announced that they had already received 20 million orders for the S6 from all around the world by “major clients,” according to Samsung’s chief of mobile, Shin Jong-Kyun. Indeed, they are making the big bucks.

Other features include an eight megapixel camera as well as a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera that dazzles with simultaneous HD video and image recording, touch focus and face/smile detection. Nothing new in our eyes, though.

As usual, bluetooth is available as well as a reversible connector that doubles as a charger (a copycat move from Apple, perhaps?)

Amazing as all these lovely upgrades are, the main concern is the battery usage and we all know, the fancier the feature, the faster you are to reaching for that charger. So will it live up to its standards?

Although the S6 was announced earlier in March, the device will only be available in Namibia in a couple of months, so keep a lookout at your favourite mobile outlets.
