Sam Nujoma Foundation extends condolences over Pope Francis’ death

Chairperson of the Sam Nujoma Foundation Nahas Angula has sent condolences to the Vatican City and the entire Roman Catholic Church community following the death of Pope Francis.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church died on Monday at the age of 88.

Angula in a statement describes Pope Francis as “the moral compass in a world full of turbulence and a shining light with compassion for the downtrodden and those at the periphery of societies”.

He says as the first pope from the Global South, Pope Francis’s deeds will forever be etched in the memories of many for speaking out on various ills, including the genocidal acts perpetrated against the people of Palestine and the challenges of climate change facing the developing world.

“His passing during the holy period of Easter for the Christian faith is a testament to his efforts to build an equitable and just world.

“On behalf of the Sam Nujoma Foundation, we extend our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the entire Roman Catholic Church community for the passing of Pope Francis,” Angula says.
