Salif Keita to perform at Windhoek Jazz Festival

Jazz fans can look forward to being entertained by Malian Afro-pop singer and songwriter Salif Keita at the 2014 Windhoek Jazz Festival.

City of Windhoek spokesperson Joshua Amukugo said at a media conference in the capital on Tuesday Keita will be sharing the stage with South African band Freshly Ground and local artists such as Shishani, Erna Chimu, Mr Bones, Big Ben, and Essence.

“Salif Keita is unique and well known for his reputation as being ‘the Golden Voice of Africa’,” Amukugo said.

Keita is also known for blending elements of a wide range of local African music such as traditional with Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and other international popular music styles.

Freshly Ground is an Afro-fusion band formed in Cape Town in 2002. The band members hail from South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe

The Windhoek Jazz Festival takes place at the Hage Geingob Stadium on 15 November.

Tickets can be bought at Computicket at N$250 per ticket.

No tickets will be sold at the gates on the day of the Jazz Festival.
