Sadboyz Internationale has a chance

READY … Sadboyz Internationale is ready to take over the music scene.

Sadboyz Internationale, comprising Kay-Z Bearens and Junior Cupper, started its musical journey three years ago and continues to expand.

The duo’s first single, ‘You Had a Chance’, accompanied by a music video, recently trended on Trace Africa.

Based on a real-life love story, the song has a beautiful melody.

South African singer Nadia Nakai’s image was stylised for the video, which was shot by Spectrum Media’s Silas Ekondo.

“The majority of our songs are inspired by contemporary love stories and heartbreaks, which is the main reason we chose the name Sadboyz for our musical style or the mood our songs convey,” says Bearens.

The two cites this as a turning point in their careers, since the song’s single was also the MTC Fashion Week’s theme song last year.
Bearens says they became aware of their talent in 2020, while working as DJs and artists at Kasi Vibe.

“Little did we know this would bring us together, but I found out that (Junior Cupper) was a producing artist, so together we worked on a feature,” he says.

He says once ‘You Had a Chance’ featured on Trace Africa for a while, it gave them the exposure they needed.

“We made the decision to form a pair after reaching that milestone, because we performed the same song at so many events.”

Being independent artists in Namibia has not been easy, and landing gigs or being hired has been challenging, Cupper says.

The duo says ‘Internationale’ accurately captures the style and quality of its music, because it has an international feel.

They are also getting ready to release ‘The Boys Are Back’, their first extended play (EP), which will include four tracks.
