South African Airways (SAA) is set to enhance its service offerings by introducing a third daily flight connecting Johannesburg to Windhoek, effective 1 May.
This new route will provide greater travel options between the two cities, responding to the increasing demand for air travel in the region.
The scheduled flights will operate as follows:

- Flight SA070 at 05h45
- Flight SA074 at 09h05
- Flight SA076 at 15h00 (New flight)
Departure from Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport (Windhoek):
- Flight SA071 at 08h30

Air Connect Namibia expresses its support for the addition of this flight, emphasising its role in providing enhanced travel options and catering to the growing demand for connectivity in the region.
“The new flight schedule is anticipated to bolster tourism, facilitate business collaborations, and promote cultural exchange between South Africa and Namibia”.
With the increase in frequency, travellers will benefit from flexibility in planning their journeys. This is expected to simplify access to the cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse offerings of both countries.
The service is a positive step forward for Namibia, as the country continues to pursue increased international connectivity and easy air access.
“With each new tourist adding N$4 200 to Namibia, we are really excited to witness strong growth in passenger numbers, which we believe will drive tourism’s contribution to the national economy, not only in monetary terms but in real tangible jobs, because tourism is everybody’s business,” says Air Connect Namibia in a statement.
Air Connect Namibia chairperson and Namibia Airports Company chief executive Bisey /Uirab says, “we at the Namibia Airports Company are extremely privileged to be part of such positive change.”
The statement clarifies that Johannesburg continues to be Windhoek’s largest source market, and the expanded schedule is expected to meet strong demand while unlocking further growth for both economies.
This initiative marks a step forward in regional connectivity and economic development.
