JOHANNESBURG – South African petrol pump prices will increase by 17 cents, or 2,3 per cent, to 7,64 rand per litre for all grades next Wednesday, the government said on Friday.
A statement from the minerals and energy department said the wholesale price of diesel would also go up by 7 cents to 7,32 rand.High fuel and food prices have been the main driver for consumer inflation, which accelerated to 8,6 per cent year-on-year in December from November’s 7,9 per cent, according to official data this week.
