SA kwaito star Mapaputsi dies after extended illness

South African kwaito artist Sandile ‘Mapaputsi’ Ngwenya has died at the age of 45.

He is said to have died in hospital on Thursday evening, following a long illness.

Mapaputsi rose to fame in 2001 with the release of his album ‘Izinja’, which was included on the soundtrack of the Grammy Award-winning film ‘Tsotsi’.

Mapaputsi’s family is yet to provide details on his funeral arrangements.
