Rukoro welcomes ACC probe

WINDHOEK – The Acting Secretary General of the Namibia Football Association (NFA), Barry Rukoro, has welcomed the investigation against him by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), saying he has nothing to hide.

It is alleged that Rukoro does not have a Grade 12 qualification and that the copy he submitted when he applied for the job as NFA Secretary General is not his own. ACC Director Paulus Noa told Nampa on Tuesday that the position of NFA secretary general, which Rukoro applied for, requires a Grade 12 certificate.Rukoro told Nampa on Wednesday that the initials IHBP Rukoro on his Grade 12 certificate stand for Isaskar Hitjivirue Barry Patson Rukoro. He said he was baptised Isaskar Hitjivirue in the Roman Catholic Church and that the members of the community whom he served gave him the names Barry and Patson.Rukoro added that he obtained his National Senior Certificate (Matric) in 1986 from the South African Department of Education and Culture in the right manner. He attended classes at the Roessing Foundation in Khomasdal and that he wrote the final examination as a private student.Said Rukoro: “As a law-abiding citizen of the country, I am aware that the country has structures and that the ACC is one of them. They have the obligation to listen to complaints and investigate. And as a law-abiding citizen I am responsible to answer.I explained to them competently and as far as I am concerned I have a clear conscience on my Matric certificate.I think the ACC will also come to realise this.”He added that a lot of people could certify that he is indeed Isaskar, as some still call him by that name.”If it is too hot for me in the kitchen I will get out, but if I can control the fires, I will stick around,” he said.Rukoro said he was a teacher at two different schools in Namibia and he used that same certificate to get the jobs.He wonders how that document could be questioned now.He confirmed that he only has a certified copy of his Grade 12 certificate because the original document got lost some years ago.NampaACC Director Paulus Noa told Nampa on Tuesday that the position of NFA secretary general, which Rukoro applied for, requires a Grade 12 certificate.Rukoro told Nampa on Wednesday that the initials IHBP Rukoro on his Grade 12 certificate stand for Isaskar Hitjivirue Barry Patson Rukoro. And as a law-abiding citizen I am responsible to answer.I explained to them competently and as far as I am concerned I have a clear conscience on my Matric certificate.I think the ACC will also come to realise this.”He added that a lot of people could certify that he is indeed Isaskar, as some still call him by that name.”If it is too hot for me in the kitchen I will get out, but if I can control the fires, I will stick around,” he said.Rukoro said he was a teacher at two different schools in Namibia and he used that same certificate to get the jobs.He wonders how that document could be questioned now.He confirmed that he only has a certified copy of his Grade 12 certificate because the original document got lost some years ago.Nampa
