Rotas in the house!

South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur and actor Rodney Goliath, better known as ‘Rotas The Rapper’.

South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur and actor Rodney Goliath, better known as ‘Rotas The Rapper’, arrived in Namibia on Friday afternoon.

Rotas will headline two live shows.

He will be performing live at Rehoboth and in Windhoek on Saturday and Sunday.

The shows will be hosted by NextGen Youth Empowerment as part of their annual youth bash.

Other artists, including MC Citto and Salvador, will also entertain the crowd.

Rotas is a Afrikaans rapper who says he loves to inspire through his music.

Hailing from Groenheuwel, Paarl, Rotas has been part of ‘Maak My Famous’, a talent show on kykNET, where he made it to the top 10.

Since then, Rotas’ presence has been growing on social media.

He is also part of artists Emo and Loukmaan Adams’ ‘Brother Love’ show.

Rotas has performed alongside Early B, RJay and LK.

He is a Stellenbosch University graduate, where he studied drama and theatre.

Rotas says he is excited about coming to perform in Namibia, and believes the platform is ideal for him to share his story with more people.

“I am really looking forward to sharing my life story with Namibians. I am glad to perform in Namibia, because previously it was just a dream of mine. I believe my story could inspire other people to do better and more,” he says.

Rotas says apart from his performance in Namibia, he is also hoping to meet new people, find out what experiences Namibians have, and network.

“This would allow me to gain new experiences to write about and bing out in my music,” he says.

Rotas says some of the songs the public can expect him to perform include ‘Dankie vir die Pyn’ , ‘Ek sal Survive’ and ‘My Mense’.

He says he has big dreams and does not allow anything to get in the way of making them a reality.

Rotas urges artists to be true to who they are.

“Be yourself. We don’t want another Drake or Lil Wayne . . . Always write from your heart, and don’t ever be scared,” he says.

Organiser Gustavo Cloete says the youth bash is part of their yearly community upliftment and youth empowerment drive.

The bash will be held under the theme ‘Jy Sal Survive’.

“At the event we will be encouraging youth through music, dancing and life-changing testimonies. We are doing a bash yearly.

“It started back in 2016 where we gathered all young people in the city to praise and worship the Lord through dance, rap, poetry and sharing testimonies.

“This year we felt to do it slightly different by bringing someone who has a positive message through rap, and who also has great influence on the youth. The Lord gave us a assignment concerning young people.

“We want to bring hope to the youth and make them believe again. Young people are going through extremely difficult times,” Cloete says.

He says the youth attending the bash can expect to be transformed and impacted in such a way that they will go out and change the world.
