Roaming elephant killed in Omusati region

One of the elephants that was spotted roaming in the Omusati region on Friday has been killed.

Omusati regional police commander commissioner Ismael Basson on Saturday confirmed that the animal was shot by nature conservation officials in the Onawa area earlier that morning.

He added that the meat from the elephant is expected to be distributed to local residents.

Basson said another elephant was reportedly seen in the Onaanda area on Friday morning.
