Reward for arrest of ‘Butcher’ upped

THE price on the head of the person responsible for butchering the late Sanna Garoës and Jacoba (Wilma) Olivier was increased to N$110 000 yesterday.

A N$60 000 reward that had been on offer since June 18 for information leading to the arrest of the suspected killer or killers of Garoës has been increased by N$50 000 and widened to include information that would lead to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for killing Olivier, the Namibian Police announced. A torso later identified as being part of the remains of former Kalk­rand resident Garoës (36) was found in a rubbish bin next to the B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja on June 17.A pair of thighs, later also identified as part of Garoës’s remains, were found in a rubbish bin next to the B1 road between Windhoek and Rehoboth on June 20.Garoës’s head, lower legs and feet were found lying next to the B6 road some 35 kilometres east of Windhoek on July 11.Olivier’s head and forearms were found in a black plastic refuse bag near the Grootfontein State Hospital on Monday last week.A pair of lower legs and upper arms that are also thought to be part of Olivier’s remains were found lying next to the road between Grootfontein and Otavi, close to the junction of the Grootfontein-Tsumeb road, on Saturday.On Tuesday, the last parts of Olivier’s suspected remains – a pair of thighs, and upper arms and a torso – were found next to the Grootfontein-Tsumeb road, close to the road junction.Olivier was born and grew up at Gochas.She was 30 years old.The Police said anyone coming forward with crucial information will be guaranteed protection and their identity will not be revealed.A reward of N$20 000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for killing and beheading 21-year-old Windhoek resident Juanita Mabula also still remains on offer.Mabula’s headless body was found lying next to the Western Bypass road near the Windhoek Turf Club on September 25 2005.Her head was discovered next to the B1 road between Windhoek and Rehoboth on October 24 2005.Information can be provided to the Police by phoning (061) 209 4414 (office hours) or 081 127 5510 all hours, or by contacting the nearest Police station.A torso later identified as being part of the remains of former Kalk­rand resident Garoës (36) was found in a rubbish bin next to the B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja on June 17.A pair of thighs, later also identified as part of Garoës’s remains, were found in a rubbish bin next to the B1 road between Windhoek and Rehoboth on June 20.Garoës’s head, lower legs and feet were found lying next to the B6 road some 35 kilometres east of Windhoek on July 11.Olivier’s head and forearms were found in a black plastic refuse bag near the Grootfontein State Hospital on Monday last week.
