I’M a concerned Namibian who is angry, frustrated and disappointed by the way our once beloved country is run by the selfish, careless and reckless government or should I say individuals, since most of them have a game plan to enrich themselves or take advantage of this country and its helpless nation in one way or another.
I am proud to be a Namibian but now I’m not so sure and it really frightens me. I’m scared because whenever you open a newspaper these days all you read about is corruption, government misuse of public funds and it’s only getting worse.I wholeheartedly support and am 100% behind concerned and worried readers who aired their views in The Namibian of September 2 2005.I mean, where are we headed? Maybe we are competing with Nigeria for the Crown of Disaster and not the Jewel! I’m honestly sick and tired and outraged by the idiotic behaviour of our leaders and those individuals involved. Please, once and for all, lead us the right direction.Release us from the evil of corruption! You are bringing shame to our beautiful country and nation of dignity and integrity of which there is not much left.We fought for this country’s Independence and freedom. Why are we breaking down the country we fought so hard for, shed blood and died for? Where is the respect for those who died for this land; those left disabled in one form or another, the whole of the nation which is still surviving though they are slowly being wiped out by AIDS.Most importantly what about our children? They are the next generation who are supposed to lead this country one day. Can’t you at least set a good example for them or are you not bothered as you have probably made plans for your own and not considered the rest.I can imagine how my fellow Namibians must feel living there and going through this hell as the situation has hit me so hard although I am thousands of miles away.I would like to come back to my country as proud as when I left but there’s a “cloud of shame” hanging over me.I’m ashamed of my leaders who have put our country’s future at risk and simultaneously chartered an uncertain economic situation for us.I don’t want to return home to a political position similar to Nigeria and other worst affected African countries. Our country is way too young and vulnerable to experience these self-inflicted problems. Please leaders, for the sake of our country, I’m begging you to sort this mess out, as there’s no one else to blame but yourselves. There is no white government to blame this time!Justine ScotlandI’m scared because whenever you open a newspaper these days all you read about is corruption, government misuse of public funds and it’s only getting worse.I wholeheartedly support and am 100% behind concerned and worried readers who aired their views in The Namibian of September 2 2005.I mean, where are we headed?
