The Rehoboth Town Council has announced that during its next meeting a motion on the provision of land to investors will be discussed.
Rehoboth mayor Justin Coetzee said the council has to review all contracts on the provision of land to investors.
“I saw that land was given to some investors to start certain projects which never happened. They never come back to the council even though they had been given land. We need to find ways to give the land to those who really need it. So we have to make big dicussions on the matter during our next meeting,” Coetzee said.
Rehoboth resident Festus Beukes hopes that the discussion on the matter will be successfully finalised.
Beukes said many people who would like to set up their businesses are finding it challenging as land was given to people who are not taking it up.
“To find employment nowadays is a huge challenge and therefore many people have taken it up and find ways to start up their own businesses,” Beukes said.
“Unemployment remains high in Namibia, and many people can’t find work. In this way business people are also able to give employment to those who need it. We have to find ways to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. I am looking forward to the best coming out from this,” Beukes said.
